I went to a local car recycle place and got a stock used one for $30. Slapped it on and away I went. Still works fine.

local rebuilder near me charges 80 for a rebuilt alt. they also do starters. they have em waiting on the shelf ready to go, and if they dont, they can rebuild your old one in a few hrs time.

well worth a google search to see if you got one local.

98 Buick Regal GS, F body brakes, Caddy STS wheels, tinted tails L36 bottom end, lightly ported heads, 1.95 roller rockers, headers, gen 5 N* 3.0 pulley, FSIC, 42 lb injectors, a BrandonHall rebuilt trans, DHP tuned and AEM water/Meth injection https://goo.gl/gpV5kW

I've been in west metro Detroit 10 years now. used to live up in West Branch. there was a rebuilder down the road and around the corner from me. I've been there quite a few times. he let me sit and watch him rebuild a starter off my truck once.
I don't know why I didn't think of looking for one down here. thanks for giving my melon a jogging!
