2005 GT.
120,000 miles.
Twice in the last couple of weeks the car just died
while driving it. Pulled over, restarted it, kept going.
Today when my wife got home, she shut the car
down and said it "vibrated" when she turned it off.
She went back out later and it started but
then immediately died and wouldn't restart.
Then I went out and tried it.
As soon as I cranked it, it fired, but the starter
stayed engaged for a couple of seconds after I
let off on the key, then the engine immediately died.
Meanwhile every gauge on the cluster was going haywire.
Tried a few more times, exact same thing happened every time.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

i would start with reading codes. there are a few things that could be the problem but with the gages going haywire, im thinking electrical. grounds, bat terms, condition of battery, alt charging properly....

Pull both battery cables and clean them and the battery connections. When reassembling make sure they are nice and tight. A loose negative cable can cause this as I've had it happen on my 00 GT.

Usually your electronics going haywire is the alternator. I would check your charging system out. With the vehicle off the battery should be reading 12.6 volts. With the vehicle running the battery should be reading 14.6 volts as it would be receiving a charge from the alternator. You can even turn some things on like the lights or ac to put a load on it. If while the vehicle is running the voltage drops below 13 volts the battery is being drained and would cause the vehicle to die. That would be the first thing I check out

I was a little surprised too. Guy got all bent out of shape because he had to wait for post approval.

Apparently not lol. If he's gonna have a tantrum over a mod having to approve his post he's definitely not worth our time.
Hopefully someone else surfing around here finds the info useful.
