Was wondering if someone could give me some input car seems to be a little sluggish thinking I might have a vacuum leak. What’s the vacuum supposed to be at idle? Im getting a po172 code the tune isnt perfect on idle but decent under power what’s proper afr for these cars? Any help is appreciated thanks.

One of the best things I ever did was make a smoke machine to check for vac leaks. A paint can a siren iron a rag baby oil and some tubing and you can find vac leaks in 5 minutes. Even the tiny ones. That code is for too rich though. AFR should be 14.7 idle and 11.5-12.5 wot.

Okay at idle its between 15 and 15.5 it fluctuates I have a cam in the car now it’s creeping to 15.9 to 16 at idle. Everything on or in the motor was completely rebuilt or replaced about 5,000 miles ago but that’s about 5 years ago it’s a summer car I drive it a couple months a year last year only 200 miles. I went for a drive cuz the weather is nicer and I seem to be lacking about 4lbs of boost and the supercharger whistles instead of whines and it’s lacking power not really running bad just not as good. The supercharger is a gen 3 but it’s ported Inlet and outlet along with the lim by zzp I have the garlock gasket and when they port the lim the gasket is thin on the one end but not sure if that’s the problem. My vacuum at idle is 14.5 and I can’t remember but I thought that used to be upwards of 20? Interested in how you made a vacuum leak tester or smoke machine.

You'll want to smoke all your cars, lol. It's super easy. Cost ya about 30 bucks at the most. I've heard others have issues with those garlock gaskets. Sounds like you might be too.

Okay thanks for the info I appreciate it. Where’s the best place to add the smoke?

I use the vac line going from the vac tree on top of s/c to the boost bypass. And put a rubber glove over the throttle body, or tape or something.

Okay I just spent $70 and ordered a smoke machine from eBay even though I could of built one. Because of the virus I don’t like going to the stores been doing online grocery shopping and everything lol. Is there not that many people on the forum anymore? I used to be on here daily a few years ago then I just kinda gave up on the Grand Prix and said it’s good enough lol.
