After 387K miles my trans might finally be telling me its done. Been dealing with the TCC lockup flair for a while and tonight on the way home driving normally it locked quicker than normal and threw a CEL with a P0742. Is also lugging around now but doesn't die so that's a plus. Might try a pan drop/fluid/filter change just because, but I know it's still on borrowed time even if that works.

I know Dave at TEP is normally the go-to for this but not sure how fast of a turnaround I can get there. Is there any other place that sells a quality upgraded 4t65E? This is for my 00 GT. Planning for the future I'd like it capable of holding ~350whp or so. Rather overbuild then under and break sh*t again. Only plan on spending the money once if I can help it and want to make sure it's built properly.

This guy did mine as well as many many other well known GPs. He is fantastic at what he does. Not local to you but would be worth the travel if you guys could work something out.

Justin Nichols in the Kansas City area does a good job with them.

There is also Chris Harmon I think in Michigan or Minnesota.

Both of those guys will probably be much quicker than Dave.

I could do a KC run, lot closer than MI. Time to get some quotes.

I drove it today after clearing the code and letting it sit Mon. and so far it hasn't acted up but I know it's on borrowed time. On the plus side my brother said I can borrow his 01 GP to drive if mine pukes the trans so I think I bought myself just enough time to do the research.

How far out are TEP? I'd go that route if it were me. What mods are you planning? New engine or you going for another 500k with that engine? 😆

Not sure how far out TEP is on their builds at this point. Figure on Gen V topswap power levels w/o meth or anything crazy. Not going to be a track only car.

No, not gonna go for another 500K on it, lol.. Current engine will be coming out and be mothballed as a backup in case of a de-mod (not sure I want to run boost on a ~390K mi. engine that still runs great). I'll be sourcing a sub 130K mile engine to replace it, whether it be a SII or SIII. Will still be an N/A motor though since all of my supporting mods that I have acquired are for the N/A version and I don't want to deal with all the fvckery that would be involved in changing it over.

Rolled 440K on Tuesday and so far the old trans has been ok for what it is. I'm just being easy on it for now until I can get time to change the fluid in it.
