    Hello all,

    I've got a 2002 GTP and the rockers are in pretty poor shape, as this is apparently an issue for these cars.

    My question is first, how much structural support do they give? I know back in the days with body on frame, they were mostly cosmetic, however, seeing as this is a unibody, I would imagine they do offer some support.

    I also was curious in the difference between the inner rockers and the outer rockers? I see that you can buy the outer rocker replacements, but they just look like thin stamped steel, which takes me back to wondering how much support they give.

    The car has 160k on it, I picked it up fairly inexpensively and was just wanting to use it as a daily driver to keep miles off of other stuff.

    The GTP, like the GT, has the plastic ground effects panels so that is hiding most of what I can see, from the bottom they are rusty, with a couple holes, so I don't really know the extent of it, but my experience with rust has been, it's always way worse than what you can see, so I'm not holding out much hope for them.

    I guess I'm just wanting some knowledge and advice regarding this.

    When the rockers go completey the car will banana, together they are structure of the car, add a roll cage and rockers have nothing to support.

    From what I've gathered, the inner rockers are impossible to find. I purchased outer rockers from TABCO. My welder said they were pretty high quality, thick metal. A lot of people give them great reviews.

    Like Hurtz said, they provide a good amount of support. They keep the car firmer and stiffer. After having mine done I can totally tell the difference.

    The ground effects clip onto the outer rockers and bolt onto the sides of the wheel wells. They will eventually fall off, if outer rockers are not addressed.

    Getting the rockers fixed, and other unavoidable cosmetic issues inside the door jams related to the rockers, will run you between $600-$1000. Depending who you ask. For many, its the end of the road for the car. How are your rear strut towers looking?? I'm guessing not to good since we are both from IL. If those are rotted then you're pretty much SOL man. Take a look at the rear towers. If they are rotted, and rockers are rotted.... you have some difficult decisions to make.. Scarp it, or pay a shyt ton to get it fixed. Do you like the car? Or do you love the car?
