Thread: I'm only 20 years late to the party..

I posted this on the "other" forum and thought I'd share it over here as well. So I've been lurking around the community for some time, had an L36 intrigue with a few mods and never actually had an M90 car...until now. I've been looking for a toy and couldn't pass this up. We went and picked it up over Labor day weekend. Like I said, way late to the party but I have me some smiles driving it. I can't take credit for the build, a fellow forum member did an incredible job with the car and decided to move on to a turbo project. This car just needed a tune to be complete. Shortly after getting it home I brought it over to ZZP for a dyno tune.

Every engine truly is different, no worries, it works and proof is in the pudding! No need to change them unless you're getting float, or for shyts n giggles to see if it has an effect on performance. I do believe in "if it ain't broke, don't fx it", Lolz!

Ty. I've been kicking around the idea of lowering the car but I'm leaning toward leaving it the way it is and doing trailing arms, sway bar and stb on the rear.

From what I've read on here, lowering opens up a whole can of worms on these cars. Throws off the CV shaft angle, have to install spacers on lower trans/motor mounts to correct the geometry. Or, live with the shake and clunk. Thought about lowering mine, decided against it.

Used to have a Mk3 Jetta that was already lowered and riding on 17" rims/low-pro rubberband tires when i bought it. I don't miss scraping in driveways, and ride stiffness that would shake the fillings out of your teeth. 19-year-old-me thought it was the bee's tits though.

Rear STB makes a world of difference on these though in my experience, front helps too, but less noticeable than the rear. Only suspension changes I've done so far, GMPP offers a set for pretty cheap, available through a dealership. And i'm sure other vendors too.

I'm needing new struts pretty soon, probably gonna go with the Police/Taxi Impala [9C1] Monroe quik-struts, since I do quite a bit of driving on crappy, rough back roads out in the sticks.

Dang! I've got almost the same build on my 2nd car in my sig. I just have xp cam and headwork done. No IC.
Makes me want to get it finished and drive-able to see what the dyno brings. 368HP to the wheels is pretty impressive on a S1x cam.
