Hey guys,
It's been a while since I eliminated my basket case Grand Prix. That car was horrible, breaking down more than it was on the road. A shame since I enjoyed it but didn't enjoy the issues. When I traded it in the ABS was out, transmission had funny noises, needed a new exhaust, struts, control arms, air bag sensor in passenger seat replaced. And that was after I had a ton of work done to the car. Carfax showed it had many electrical issues in its life before I bought it. Oh well.
Anyways, my best friend and I were looking for a good first car for her son, and ran across a 2006 Grand Prix base model. Drove perfect. Looked under the hood and the intake gasket had been done, and had an aluminum cooling elbow in place of the plastic one that failed on the 3.8s. Drove it over some rough railroad tracks and not one single knock or clank. Has 158k miles, no accidents, 2 owner car with the first being a rental & second owning for 9 years. Interior is very clean, and steering is good and tight, driving perfectly straight. Got it up to about 60 and no shaking at all, and smooth shifting transmission.
Hopefully he will have the luck my Dad has had with his 2006 GP and not the luck I had with my 2008.
