This may have been answered previously but I haven't been able to find it...... please go easy on me :-) There isn't anything wrong with my current (stock) fuel pump but just out of preventive maintenance due to 120K miles on the odometer I am going to replace it on my 2000 GTP project with a Racetronix unit. I pulled out my canister to see just what I had and I noticed a black plastic box that is snapped between two of the three spring rods at the bottom just above the fuel pump. The power leads for the fuel pump go from the bulkhead connector, into this box, and then back out before connecting to the pump itself. I probed it with an Ohm meter thinking it was some sort of resistor (which doesn't make any sense because it is located inside the fuel tank). My next guess is that it was some sort of elaborate way to hold the wiring stationary which seemed ridiculous as well. Does anyone have any actual knowledge of what this thing is for?
