Just curious, is it possible to make a GTP backfire? Like shoot some flames out the exhaust? Without a spark plug at the end obviously, and a full exhaust. Would you just need to go catless and run rich?

you do know that what comes out the exhaust does contain un burnt fuel. on a smog the hydrocarbons is what your fuel is but your not going to get a flames out the back unless you rig up some extra fuel lines that run into the pipes with a spark plug

    Catless is a must.

You'd have to tune the car to shut off timing buy keep the fuel injectors pumping as you let off the throttle and enter a DFCO type event. That way the fuel will be thrown into the exhaust and ignite as it touches the hot exhaust pipes. But thats the other part, the exhaust needs to be hot enough.

Not even sure you could make it happen in one of these cars because of the length and bends in the exhaust. A straight through design or a real short exhaust that doesnt exit the rear of the car would be preferred.

So you would basically need a 2 step launch control, if i understand correctly? I am not catless but i do have the full 3" system and front Plog and 3" DP

    A 2 step is different.

DFCO is deaccerlation fuel cut off, but instead of turning off fuel, you turn off timing and turn the motor into a true air pump with no spark going on.

You would melt the cat converter down if you tried this with one. Hell I'm not even sure you could make a totally work because our PCM's aren't very complicated/have alot of editing allowed to do such things.

Was it this forum where I saw pics of exploded mufflers and exhaust? I'm guessing it's possible under the right/wrong conditions.

That one above video is the only one I could find in later searches of a GP shooting fire with a full exhaust at least. I'm sure you could do it easier with a fender dump lol
