Okay, so I'm ready to dip my car, but I have a couple concerns.

    1) Can I just use regular paint thinner with plasti-dip

    2) How many gallons do I need to cover the whole car well?
I was thinking I would use 2 gallons of dip, and 1 gallon of thinner (3 sprayable gallons)

    3) Should I just do this in my garage, or drive back home (2 hours) and dip the car in the shop.

I want to get this done before winter hits so it can take a good week to set.

ALSO! Blue, red white, or black??

    Thanks!

I've definitely checked, there's nothing. It's a preference thing, but I've never done this, therefore I have no preference.

No thinning required. I've dipped a few cars and no thinning was needed

Well what's thinning really do, then? Does it just make more sprayable product, make for a smoother coat, easier to clean the gun after?

Xylol/Xylene is what you use to thin it.
IIRC >>>> it comes ready to spray in the gallon size....already thinned
You can thin it in the gun or spray Xylene after to smooth it.
I used spray bombs on a raw deteriorating clear coat Corrola hood. I didnt prep at all except for a quick wipe with Meguiars rinseless wash (D114).

I should have sanded lightly to smooth it and wiped it clean probably with Xylol to get rid of oils.
    So step #1 is PREP

after fiddle fckn with spray bombs. the wet spot is dry on the passenger side. It started getting rough and bumpy. Xylene smoothed everything out.
It also accidently ran over a headlight and melted it. It will destroy plastic.

after smoothing with Xylene,,,,,,I am still impressed with my headlight resto. those things looked like cardboard before.
