Do you have any codes thrown?
dads truck had this issue. He went to pull me out of the ditch and couldn't get going more then 15 MPH. Still managed to pull me out though... Turned out to be the battery. It wasn't allowing the full 12 volts to the system.
jucal,
I'm sorry to here you are experiencing this issue with your vehicle. This may due to an instrument panel to body harness connector issue. This is just a suggestion, not a diagnosis.
Do you have any aftermarket equipment installed on the vehicle?
I encourage you to have the vehicle inspected by a certified technician for an official diagnosis.
Please keep us posted.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me privately.

Thank you Louis,

Thank you to all who responded to my post the problem has been fixed you guys were a tremendous help!!!!!!!!!!
This also has happened to me on occasion. We tried to have the code read by an parts supply store but they came up with nothing. The reduced power light came on this morning on the highway and as I stepped on the gas, got no response. After pulling into the breakdown lane, lost power completely (steering and all). After shutting off the ignition and restarting, it was fine...until about 2 miles down the road when it did it again. It started right back up and didn't do it again. As of late, I've also been experiencing a second issue; all of my lights go on and I get a message about traction control not functioning, steering assist not functioning, and ABS as well. We were told it could be a short or a chewed through wire, but it could take quite a while to figure out where. Any other suggestions on these two issues? Thanks!!
Well, it did it ("reduced engine power") again this morning 4 time within 3 miles so I gave up. We were told that it most likely is the throttle position switch/sensor. We may try to change that, but then the other issues (losing the power steering, traction control, ABS) is going to be a whole 'nother story (most likel involving $$$$ to figure out). Could be a short, chewed wires, or crack in the computer board; so I'm thinking a new car is in order! \
