Has always been advertising phrase. Twin Turbo 300ZXs have two different sized turbos, as well as Supra Turbos. Its easier to say and understand for the average person. If some clueless guy walked in off the street at Nissans dealership in 1990 and saw a 300zx and the back it said "Compound Turbocharged"(meaning 2 different sized turbos compounded together) or "Sequential Turbocharged"(meaning two different sizedturbos in sequence of each other), a mechanic would have to come and explain to the guy what it meant and after getting techical, the guy will probably think its way too complicated and get nervous. If they just say it's twin turbo, the guy would be like, "oh, its got TWO turbos", I want it!" lol

Hmm, might that be why some companies have started calling it Bi-turbo?

Yeah, cause some people might be more familar with Bi like on cycles. lmao, maybe they should start using Uni-Turbo on single turbo cars.

Theres a point when twincharging on our 3800's is beneficial. Like running a larger turbo. The only guys that make these kits claim that twincharging (s/c +t/c) will always make more power than a single turbo. Your basic single turbo setup will run 12's, cammed you typical shoot for 11's. Some guys with 500+whp may only run mid 11's but trap in the upper 120mph+. They are more of a roll racer. Turbo kits are getting much cheaper, while the trans parts (GMR 1" chain) is out of stock/not being made anymore. Your only chance now is to get a used built trans with a 1" chain from a demod, which there are quite a few in the last year or so.

Theres no point in twin charge on these cars. You'd have the super pushing air into the engine and when it spun up enough the turbo would push more into the super and be restricted by the super's flow capabilities.
Not necessarily, the bbv opens but this m90 seems to flow alright -

didnt read any of your posts, but twin charging is only cool if youre going to go for soemthing unique. youll make more power with the right sized turbo. the blower youre just spinning like crazy and wasting power by having to spin it.

    ...good luck.

you should do a few of the supporting mods and see how you like working on your car and then decide if you can even handle doing a twin charged setup. let alone that youd have absolutely no one that could tune it. therefore, good luck.

Most vehicles that run twin turbos like that are stock. Such as older japanese cars. There are two different setups like the sequential, and I forgot the other one, but one means they both create power together, and the other is like what you said one smaller for lower rpms then the other turbo engages higher in the rpm range. Most stock twin turbo cars either upgrade both turbos or do a big single turbo. If you tune a turbo right or get the right turbo you well have minimal turbo lag. As far as twin charging I don't really see the purpose. It sounds really expensive and would probably be insane to tune. Actually if someone could find me a setup where twin charging is better than either forced induction setup let me know.
