I have a 02 grand prix with the 3100. Nothing is wrong with the motor just has 83k on it. I have a fresh rebuilt 3400 and a rebuilt 4t65 transmission both with 500 miles on them from my 04 grand am that was wrecked. I have wire harness and pcm for the grand am as well. Can I swap my 3400 and 4t65 into my 02 prix?

Anything is possible with enough money and labor.
Its alot of work to gain just .3 ltr, and still be stock.

Now you're talking more sense. Get the L67 and go from 175hp to 240. There are a bunch of these engines in local salvage yards.

What all would in need besides motor, ecu, harness, motor mounts? Would in need the transaxle or would my 3100 4t65e work? I ask cause I have access to a 01 gp with the 3800 n/a motor

I'm sure you'll need the harness and pcm. Maybe Axel's? I honestly have no clue but I'm sure you'll find the info if you search this site. Good luck! Search the 3.1 section here.

Dropping the 3800 into the 02 GP will be an easier path than trying to get the 3400 in and everything working IMHO. Plus, the 3800 can then be top swapped for nice power.

Ok so I just got done removing the 3800 setup and turns out it's supercharged. We rednecked the removal. We just cut the b pillars doors and floor away from the fire wall, unbolted the exhaust disconnected the engine harness and basically wleded a trailer hitch to the frame portion and towed it home with my neighbors truck lol I'm from the country. Oh I even got the ecu and gauge cluster

^^^careful with that. Do your research on the 3800 rebuild.

    Others may chime in.

    Love the removal method!!

Do NOT touch the shortblock. This ain't your regular oil burnin 350 that your cousin threw new main and rod bearings in and run it for another 11 million miles.

The 3800 lower end needs a LOT of machine shop work to be rebuilt properly. If not you will likely end up with a ~300 mile motor at best.

Leave the entire lower end alone. Slap a new pan gasket on it, do the rear cover gasket and the lower intake manifold and other assoc. gaskets and call it good. If you feel like porting the heads have at it. Also be aware that the head bolts are torque to yield and will need to be replaced if you remove them.

These engines will run into the several hundred thousands with just basic maintenance. Hell, I've got almost 400K on my motor. Never opened up anything beyond the LIM/UIM gaskets. Runs just fine and still pushes good oil pressure. Then there are the turbo GP's running around just fine on a stock bottom end as well. Just tryin to save you some money and a lot of headache. Do some research on here and I'm sure you'll find the info you need. If not, just ask us!

The best thing you can do with a 3400 is take a shotgun and put it out of your misery. Feel free to PM me for details.
