Hi everyone! I want to buy a code scanner. What company + model would you suggest? Thanks for your time in advance, and have a great day.

well if its possible to pull a code and tell me what it means. I'm a an aspiring diy'er looking to get the best bang for my buck buck also dont want options that i'd never use. Sorry if i sound arrogant. thanks for your time.
i got this scanner for reading and clearing codes. it also shows i/m readiness. it comes with a book that lists the codes, or just google the code. http://www.ebay.com/itm/U480-OBD2-OB...673320&vxp=mtr
or you can get the torque app and a elm obd2 bluetooth scanner. the app is 5 bucks, the abd2 scanner runs around 12 bucks. works with droid tablets and phones. shows more live data then you will know what to do with. also reads and clears codes and does data logging.
I also bought that top reader that Scott linked in. It's simple, very effective, has no extra bells and frills... it also feels like I paid $10 for it.
Lol got you guys. Thanks for your input
Depends on how many different cars you work on. I picked up an Actron CP9145 with the extra cables and case for around $200 used. I needed to be able to scan the bastard 1.5 OBD codes on my 95 Bonneville. It can also do normal OBD-II, Ford, Chrysler, etc.. Has live monitoring, gives you the codes and their meaning, etc.. Not a bad price considering each cable besides the standard OBD-II it comes with is around $25-30 each.
