    Hey,

I just bought my 06 gxp with 70k on the odo. I'm thinking about getting the Extended drive train warranty for it. The dealer quoted me $2200 for an extra 60k and 4 years. That would cover the engine, transmission and drive train components. Is this worth it?

I need to know by the July 10th as that is when my GM optimum used car warranty runs out.

Tough call. So many people have had problems where it could have been justified. I have modded my car from day one so a warranty would have only gotten me so far. 125k and not a problem other than standard wear items or **** I have been the cause of.....i.e. axles.

I guess it all depends. If you dont drive that much then it might be worth it because you wont ever go over the 60k warranty and you will have it for four years. But if you drive more and you pass the 60k warranty in only 2 or 3 years, then I dont think its worth it.

DO IT!!!! i just got my 06 GTP 86k miles. 3 weeks of owning it my engine basically blew out the wrist pin and connecting rod when i came out of boost. I now have a engine that has 5,600 miles on the S/C motor. I just got the car back after a week and the car runs like a dream.

I have the car booked in for the dealers Warranty inspection. It still have the 3 month used car Warranty so if there is anything wrong, they will fix it then.

    Thanks for the reply.

Its only woth it if you get the gm extended gmpp warranty,so many people get the aftermarket extended warranty and they end up using alot of used parts or say it was your fault this or that happened and wont pay for something or wont pay or diagnose or gaskets or fluids, ive seen quite a bit of people get shafted by the aftermarket ext warranties.some even make you pay for the repair and hope that you get reimbursed, the gm ext warranty is the only way to go.

Good to know. It's at a GM dealership so I would assume it is GMPP but I will make sure to ask. Thanks.

Did you buy the vehicle as an official GM optimized vehicle?

Because warranty prices for non optimized used vehicles bought from a GM dealer are higher than optimized used vehicles bought from the same dealer... about $250 difference.

I'm no squealer per say but i will help out fellow GP owners. So let me say...

That price is on the high side if you bought the vehicle as an optimized GM used vehicle.

    I'm only saying.

Not only that, but for only about $725 more you can upgrade to the GM select warranty which will then cover...

    cooling and fuel system
    steering
    suspension
    brakes
    electrical
    heater and A/C
and power accessories(like windows, locks, seat motors, radios, etc.

all for the next 60,000 KM or 4 years.

to me for $725 for 60,000 km that is an ok risk reward costs benefit.

anyone needing help just PM me with your GM vehicle purchases... just keep me on the DL though or you'll blow my cover.

If your in my area(ontario) just go ahead and buy from me and I will take care of you.
