The Indianapolis Motor Speedway has been in existence since 1909 and is the original Speedway, the first racing facility so named. With a permanent seating capacity of 257,325 people, it is the highest-capacity stadium-type facility in the world. To commemorate the track, in 2004 Chevrolet produced a limited production of 4,088 Indianapolis Motor Speedway Impala SS. These Indy Edition Impalas featured a 3800 Series II supercharged V-6, delivering 240 horsepower at 5200 rpm and an impressive 280 lb.ft. of torque at 3600 rpm.
Unique to the Impala Indy SS are 17-inch chrome diamond-cut aluminum wheels, monotone cross-lace grille with "gold" Chevy bowtie emblem and a rear spoiler. There's no doubt as to the connection with the 2.5-mile speedway, as Indy's famous "winged wheel" logo is found on the front fenders and instrument panel, Limited Edition gauge cluster, as well as embroidered into the front seat head restraints and floor mats. Like the standard Impala SS, the Indy SS is available only in a monochromatic black exterior, complimented with grey leather seating surfaces inside.
From one of the 4,088 produced, I have for sale the Limited Edition gauge cluster, with a factory boost gauge and a pair of Indianapolis Motor Speedway embroidered leather headrests. Both the cluster and headrests are in like new condition with no known mechanical or cosmetic flaws. To the best of my knowledge, these items will work with any 8th Generation Impala (2000-2005) without any modification. Please ensure fitment on your vehicle before purchase.
