When braking cars pulls to left.

Hi there. I've been doing some reading online and I have some idea whats going on, but I figured I'd run it past you guys and see what you think, So thanks in advance for any ideas.

For the past while I've noticed that when I make a left turn with the window open I can hear rubbing from the front drivers side wheel, but wasn't sure what was causing it. I also have noticed that when I brake hard the steering wheel literally pulls left in my hand. I figure that they're related and that its a bad caliper, or possible the brake line/hose leading up to it is pluuged, however if my understanding is correct then if the left front wheel is the one with the bad caliper then wouldn't it pull right instead of left? Or maybe I'm wrong all together and you guys might have an idea, or two.

well it sounds like you have air in 1 side or bad caliper. i would check to see if the right is leaking if not then it has air

But would air in the system lead to the rubbing sound when turning? I know it would lead to a lack of hydraulic pressure when braking, but that only explains 1 of the 2 symptoms.

usually air in the system you will have a crappy pedal feel. Your right caliper could not be working and your left is doing all the braking or your left is starting to stick and working quicker to brake. Or you have hoses that are collapsed and not letting pressure thru properly. Calipers cheap, its always recommend to replace both when you do them

That's what i think too. I figure the left caliper is sticking. I'll check it out tomorrow and see if I can see what's wrong exactly. It may just be the sliders. Thanks

id take that caliper off and clean and grease the slider bolts. and the inside of the caliper where the sliders bolts go in.

it could also be a bad brake hose/ line to that caliper, they blow out in the inside clog up and dont let the brake pressure off the caliper.

Thanks. What is the best way to clean out the holes for the sliding pins? I would assume you dont want to use something abrasive and am unsure what cleaner is best suited for that grease.

brake cleaner and new grease put on the slider then work it into the caliper to re grease inside.

You should do both sides. And bleed the brake fluid out of the caliper, it's probably overheated and junk.

Check your caliper hose too. Sometimes a flap can tear off the inside of it, and keep the fluid pressure from the caliper from going back to the master cylinder.
Get the car up on jack stands. Pump your brakes, and then get out to see if the caliper is sticking. If it is, crack the bleeder screw to see if any fluid comes shooting out. If it does, change the hose. If it doesn't, change the caliper.
