What pads and rotors are you guys liking?

Lots of the guys on LS1tech like the Stoptech Street Performance pads. Anyone on here ran those?

I'd like to run a slotted rotor, purely for looks.

    Suggestions? Experiences good and bad?

Soon I'll be upgrading to F-Body brakes. I will be going with the PowerStop Drilled/Slotted rotors and carbon ceramic pads combination off RockAuto. Roughly $130+ shipped for the fronts. Not too bad.

Haven't heard many negative comments on PowerStop and the price seems fair.

NAPA premium rotors and pads, not fancy but work very well for the money.

I'm running Wagner Thermo-Quiet Ceramics on mine. Not a lot of dust, no squeal, and they bite good even on a stock Imp rotor.

Anyone else? Also where are you guys getting your calipers/brackets?

Amazon has a pretty good deal on the reman Raybestos calipers/brackets.

Under 100 bucks for the pair of calipers with brackets and they've been rebuilt. Seems like a good deal to me.

I'd like to get some GXP's for the rear if I can find them in the junkyard. I've seen a couple but never once thought to rob the brakes off of them.

I clamshelled F-Bod calipers right away, so I went to vette calipers, C-6, made in Australia (oddly) and went with the Hawk HP Plus pads. These are pads that are supposed to be street/track-like drive to the auto cross and you need not change them. Well I called the tech guy that sold me the c6 cals. (I did a thread about clamshell on the f's-they went Bad QUICK!) and he told me the HP PLUS were good for street. So far I have 20K+ on them, a noticible, but not real bad ridge indicating rotor wear, and they Do make Dust. Personally I don't care that they squeal at light application, and I don't care about dust, I Totally love the fact that I was able to ride the ABS / limit in one particular stop on the parkway from 120ish down to about 50 with no drama or smoke or other problems, and I read somewhere that if you have good tires, you can get the rear as "light" as 5 or 600 pounds during braking! So theres my 2 cents, regards mike

I have powerstop drilled / slotted rotors and the powerstop pads. I have done so many horrible things to them they have literally discolored and blued the steel in between cooling fins. Still bite hard as hell and ZERO warpage. Also haven't had any cracking issues.

I've gone through about 5 sets of pads on R1 concepts rotors. They all squeal for some reason and I've had to come to the weird conclusion that it has something to do with the rotor. I know it sounds stupid but I don't know what else to think lol.

5 sets if the same pads or different? I have the R1's and they never made a sound... Also, I used spray on the back of the pads (brake quiet, two coats, real sticky) and made sure the pins are lubed real well too... Just sayin.

anyone that willingly buys drilled and slotted rotors is dumb. drilled is already a super no-no. slotted is basically for looks.

go ahead, pay more for those two items for absolutely no gain. you don't drive a racecar with track pads. you don't need drilled or slotted rotors.

i've hears some good, some bad reviews for stoptech pads, but that's going to be the same with everything you can put on a car. some people are okay with trade offs, some aren't. i don't think any of our opinions is going to be a legitimate reason to buy/not buy a certain set of pads you're looking at.

I'd like to run a slotted rotor, purely for looks like I said in the first post. However I've been looking at doing CTS-V brakes. I'd go with a blank rotor if I went that route

I was planning on buying them new since they're only about 110 bucks a pop on Amazon. But i'd buy used as well for a fair price, so yea, keep an eye out. What are the CTS-V guys upgrading to that they're pulling off the stock calipers?

Nifty. Soooper overkill on a Wbody but that'd be something to try.
