Yeah I'm just gonna wait till I can replace lots of things, and take like a week off so I can drive around a little in between each thing...see if I can trace what keeps making clicky clunky noises when I turn. I don't want to buy a new rack & pinion... But probably inner tie rods, bushings everywhere, and whatever is broken/worn out. Undercoating for Alaska?
I'm thinking new axles... but brand new or junkyard new?(if I can even find junkyard cars over here lmao)
Lmao... Not here. I got quoted €800 (approx $1,000) for one rear caliper rebuild. Not new, not reman... To have them rebuild the old one. Just one caliper. And that's from a reputable, inexpensive shop...German mechanics hate Americans and their cars. So I'm on my own with the repairs....which is why I'm whoring this entire forum. Lol
Bavaria, Germany... The beer is amazing, but that's about it lol
Exactly what happened to this car before I bought it...so pissed.
and you drive a gp over there? pretty cool.
you'll need to get the cars front wheels off the ground and go over the whole front end looking for a worn part.
see if rockauto.com will ship overseas. they are about the cheapest on line for most parts. then theres partsgeek.com and carpartkings.com
Rockauto makes me happy lol but the best they carry is like, Raybestos.
I've seen a few others, but they all look like the owners know how to put gas in them and push pedals to make it go... outside of that wealth of technical knowledge they are blissfully unaware. I just want their cars for parts lol
that's why I replaced the tie rod ends, ball joints, and links...frigging control arm rivets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(w hich says they were still factory ball joints...10 year old balljoints...driving around in Germany...on these roads... its all rough, twisty, and waaaaaayyyy to fast of a speed limit. its like, 120 Kmph almost everywhere.
having grease nipples make me happy.
not having grease nipples makes me sad.
Mkay. so I've go my plan... before next august I need to replace struts, bushings, hubs, cv joints, and brakes; along with full on arctic winterization...including block heater, oil pan and trans pan heaters, battery heater and coolant flush, replaced with -50 degree rated anti-freeze. Then I'll be doing STB's(maybe), sway bars, and brighter headlights. Maybe some other work here and there with customization... I'm thinking blue.

Hahhahahahah. Well we and/or the brits blew up the germans ball bearing factory to halt production of tanks. Can't make tanks or vehicles without ball bearings. It's true and is one of the big turning points of the war but it's not very well known since teachers these days are slloooowwwwww. Sorry again for the thread jack. Proceed.
BEARINGS ARE VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!
especially of the ball variety.
