2008 Pontiac Grand Prix 3.8 litre. had to replace a high pressure steering hose. So I disconnected the steering rack to the steering wheel connection. lowered the subframe, put the new hose on. Now I'm having serious problems getting that back on ( rack to steering rod connection) is there a trick a special tool or something. The boot around that connection is way more beefy the previous years. worse comes to worse, gonna take off the sway bar, put the rack onto said connection, replace sway bar and jack the subframe onto the rack. Anybody got any better ideas.

Get a friend and have them jiggle the wheel, its a pain in the ass to get that thing on. You could have gotten that line off without lowering the subframe that far.

you need someone to wiggle/ move it the wheel back and fourth till it slides on the rack. no tool or trick, it flat can suck to get back on. truth is, you didnt need to take it off in the first place. the rack lines are right there asking to be unbolted.

even if you lowered the sub frame the shaft will extend a good 4 inches.

Take a flat head to spread apart the clamp where the shift slides in. It'll work fine after that

Broke the spiral spring. Just replace the column. It's easier.

that blows. but pretty funny. if you have radio controls you need one that also has radio controls.

you have to pop the airbag off, then the steering wheel, then a ring clip, and its off, of course there 2 wires up top, radio and air bag to unhook, and 2 under the dash next to the obd3 port, then unhook it from the column. i changed mine wasn't all that bad. pretty easy really.

if you get a junk yard part, make sure the donor cars wheels are straight. if not you'll have to re center the clock spring so it dont break again.
