So still having a problem with the chirping noise. I regreased everything to the point where grease started coming out the sides. Could the front endlinks be making the noise? And can those be greased? The noise definiately started after changed the bar but could it be something else? What else might make this noise that I should check?
bump for an update
I don't think you're supposed to grease the front end links, I never did and had no noise. But did you torque them right? You have to get the suspension loaded (one wheel on the ground, other side supported with jack under control arm is how I do it) before you tighten them, and only tighten until the bushings bulge a little bit.
I had front end squeaking, and it was the middle bushings on the bar. I even used Energy Suspension's included grease. What I did was what Matt5112 mentioned, I just cleaned he bar and wrapped the spot the bushings go with Teflon tape, no grease or anything else. I haven't had squeaks since, and it's been months.
Bumping this back up to the top since I've added a couple new things to the original post.
Update on the noise and the ZZP arms?
Always wanted a set, never had the cash nor the stones to try the pre-update style.
Nice write up
I chased down a chirp for a really long time. Tap on on your front quarter panels, the part right by the mirror where the panel ends. I was getting metal on metal contact and it made a chirping noise. My car is a 98 4 door with similar suspension mods.
I haven't heard the noise since changing things out. I think it was those endlinks for what ever reason. The ZZP arms are real nice. Real sturdy and corning has definitely improved. I think the ones I got are the updated ones. I read up on it a lot and the problems they were having were a while ago. Hopefully they've been updated at least. The only thing I'm concered about is the ball joint wearing fast. I guess they do with bumps but we'll see.
Thanks. So far it's gone but I will look into that anyway just to make sure everything is good in that area.
There is a new squeak though. A high pitched noise that goes at the same tempo as the wheels. Replaced the rotors and pads on all 4 and it helped but didn't get rid of it. It's the rear drivers side. Thought it might be the parking break so I applied it and let it go 5-6 times but that didn't help much. I still think it's that though. Old and rusty.
