Need help trying to figure out what I been hearing for awhile in my front end. Happens every time I take off half throttle or more theres like this knockin noise in succession(usually like 2 or 3 little knocks) almost like metal on metal or metal against hard plastic. It happens sometimes too when i put the car in reverse it knocks real quick but all the time when I take off harder then usual.Car has 116k miles and drives fine otherwise. Then part 2 of my problem is my rear passenger tire is lumpy-like on the inner edge and when Im braking, especially from high speeds my rear shimys from that deformed tire, I heard its called "cupped tire", what causes that, and any ideas?

check your lower engine and tranny mounts, and the tire problem could be alignment related. or you dont rotate your tires. or theres more of a issue with worn parts causing the cupping.

I was thinking a mount too then a mechanic said it could be my sway bar link. That particular tire has not been rotated since I had the car. But will be replacing that tire next week. Will have my suspension rechecked next week.

    could be the sway bar.

pop the hood, shift it from P to R then to D, while watching the engine, if its jerking back and fourth a lot, the mounts are bad.

flipping the dog bones can also help calm this jerking around when shifting in and out of gear.

Yea i flipped my mounts in the dog bones already but may upgrade to polys soon since one of the bushings is torn a little and could be what I hear when I shift to reverse. Just wanted a second opinion and other possible culprits. Thanks

Loose tie rod end, lca bushings, ball joints, subframe bolts or bushings all could be possible culprits too.

On my 00 GT the cause of my cupped rear tires is due to the worn out struts/springs. I know they're shot. Cupped both tires on the inner edge. Made it sound like a 4x4 on the highway,lol... That and it vibrated the heck out of the car.

Yea my previous car was an 01 gt and same issue had 4 different cupped tired and i needed a whole host of suspension repairs. So im hoping its nothing more then just lack of tire rotation.

Just an update, turns out that 2 of my passenger side diagonal brace bolts were stripped and allowed the bar to flex whenever I put too much load to the front tires. So mechanic removed the bar and i took a quick drive from low speeds and everything and not a sound plus the car actually pulls better from a dead stop now since theres no more interference . They said I can leave it off but is that a good idea or should i replace the bolts? Dont want to mess up my handling.
