Only complaint I have about this car ( 06 GT ) is that it rides extremely rough... Almost like the coils and shocks are to stiff for the weight of the car... My Bonneville was a heavy car and felt like it was floating over bumps/potholes etc but still handled well, but every crack in the road I feel with the GP.. very clunky and rough.. Now before I drop $500+ on shocks/Struts and alignment, I just want to make sure that they actually do ride rough.. From what I can see there is no sagging of the springs, and the shocks dont appear to be leaking, or even had signs of it..

Just curious to what others have to say

    thanks

Mine was stiff/ sporty whatever with original springs and comp g struts. Now with SSCs and original FE3 struts its about the same.

Bonneville were "luxury" cars so they did get a different suspension setup. Strut/srping combo up front and springs with a air shock in the rear. Thats why they rode better.

Every Grand Prix I've driven has always been "rough" per say, always feeling the cracks and dips in the road.

I threw on new suspension 1,000 miles ago and rides the exact same as stock, sure I'm lowered about an inch or so but the fact of the matter is even if you do replace the suspension its not going to change a whole lot.

I thought my moms car and mine rode smooth. I bought mine with 34k miles though.

Can't say the same now with B&G springs.

Are you sure you're not just a pansy?

My Grand Prix has 158,000 miles on it and I think it rides good. My cousin drove the car a few weeks ago to follow me to take the moving truck back and he even complimented the smooth ride.

Pretty sure, Im not a pansy, but curious as to why my srt that was dropped even rode better than the GP..

Seems like you and your cousin aren't used to nice riding vehicles?

Fellow Bville lover here. What year Bonne did you have?

First thing about a Bonneville, the seats didn't suck like the GP seats do. Overall GP's are inferiorr in nearly every way. Based on the year and trim level of your Bville that could have played a lot into it. What kinda miles are on the Giant Pile you bought? I mean GP.. yea I did.

Overall the ride shouldn't be horrible, I have a Regal with about 60K on struts and it rides nice and soaks up the bumps even though I did GR2's on lowering springs aka Vogtlands. If a previous owner put it on crappy springs or struts, it'll ride like crap.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

It was a 2000 ssei, I ended up selling it with 215K miles for $4500 , a broken double din, bad tires and a 1/16th tank of gas, lol couldnt pass it up

and as far as the ride in the gp, It may not seem bad to alot of people, but the roads here amplify it x10... We have so many deep crack and potholes in this **** town, Id rather drive on gravel.. This is the first time Ive been in a Grand prix other than my buddys '97 400 hp gp, which actually was smoother as well lol

I know it sounds like Im *****ing, but Im really not, Its the only flaw I see in the car, but was just wondering if there was a solution, or better setup, but from what I see thats a no

    Pansy!

The ones I've ridden in that were stock were just fine...yea it's no caddy but that's expected. Mine on the other hand isn't as smooth but I expected that when I bought it and decided to mod it.

If your dropped SRT rides better than your GP then there is something wrong with YOUR GP. I have ridden in plenty of nice riding vehicles. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the ride of a GP. My cousin wasn't the only one to compliment the ride of the car. My mom, my boss, my brother, my friends, and so on.

Blown strut mounts can make a ride harsh as hell. In my younger days I had a POS Dodge Shadow that rode like it was on railroad tracks. I thought just replacing the struts would fix it. It didn't. I ended up going back and tearing it all back apart and replaced the strut mounts and the car rode entirely different and didn't feel like you were going to lose a kidney when you hit a pot hole/road imperfection.

i may be late to the party but my '06 GT, in my opinon, rides decently. I bought it with 48k miles on it and it now has 102k. I actually received a compliment from my grandmother on the smooth ride (she has driven Oldsmobiles/Buicks most her life, shocking right?).

but yeah, it's no cadillac but I wouldn't call it a bad ride.

we have had our 05 GT for 2 weeks now and it rides pretty good. I am not too impressed with the tires that are on it, but it rides better then my 03 did I think
