    Thoughts on these:

    97 03 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Coil Over Suspension Set No Reserve RARE | eBay

    I saw these on Barginbin or whatever the hell it is and thought it was interesting for the price. Not the best I'm assuming but it perks my interest a bit. Any experience or thoughts with something along this line?

    You could make a set with basic skills.
    Red GTP coupe, Intake, Poly Dogbones. 8K HID's, Headers, DIY HUD, Aeroforce Scan Gauge,Kenwood Excelon KDC-X794, MSR 045 18" rims, Borla Cat-Back.

    I disprove of peoples actions, and want to mega man punch them in the testicals.

    True, but for the price I can't imagine you would save much by making your own over these. ~$400 shipped is a steal for any coilovers.

    STAGG struts and racing springs..

    sounds generic. you could pick up sleeves springs and bearing and put together a set for the same price if your struts are in decent shape

    Honestly, I did read some pretty positive stuff. They are generic but I have seen no complaints on them other than from people who abused them and pushed them past their breaking point.

    5" of travel? Hmmmm, no thanks... and no mention of spring rates nor type of strut inside. Will probably seem good for a few thousand miles... Then shop for new ones.

    My opinion would be to save the $400 towards a real set of coilovers!

    Your stock struts don't travel much longer than that so what's your point?

    Well I mean if it really came down to it, new springs are cheap enough mostly everywhere so I'd be willing to take the risk I guess.

    Already been discussed. Look at the threads I posted. There are two bad reviews that come up constantly (on all forums.) Both are from people pushing them past their limits.

    My point is the 5" of travel while lowered is not the ideal situation on junk struts, which is invariably what will be in the things (@$380). Just my opinion, but I've learned in my experience nobody is giving anything away for free.

    Otherwise, I agree if you are willing to be the guinea pig testing these things for the greater good of all the rest of the GP community who would want to spend less on upgrading their suspension, then go for it!

    Personally I upgraded almost everything in my suspension over stock and I'm still left ... Wanting!
    So I know these won't do it for me...

    I changed LCA's, front n rear sways (Gmpp)' HT Motorsport trailing arms, moog end links, energy suspension poly's all around, KYB gr2's (quick struts) front n rear, strut tower braces, diagonal braces... Only thing unchanged were the rear laterals.

    But anyways, if you research Stagg, it's just not the two reviews you find on our car, but their struts too and there's a toss up. Would seem the smaller, lighter cars do ok, but the heavier cars like our platform don't fare so well. But anyways, go for it!

    I appreciate the input! You're absolutely right about it all. I will say though, someone (OmegaRed) was willing to take the dive on some cheap DNA Springs and those turned out pretty well for a lot of people! So sometimes I guess it is possible to find diamonds in the rough.

    I have to laugh at this thread and how cheap coilovers really are for our cars...


    After looking at prices for the scoob...The price of them for wbodies is a drop in the bucket.

    Honestly, these coils are most likely as reliable as a set of Monroe struts with lowering springs on them. You may get 20k out of them.
