Where is everyone's favorite spot to put a floor jack when raising the front end for repair? Does anyone think it is critical to use the spot behind the front wheels the manual suggests? I am tight on room in the garage.
Thanks

I would ONLY use the frame itself, a lot of people use the pinchweld but IMO that's retarded.
The Pinchwelds on these cars are not strong enough anymore, from the factory they were, but unless you have a car that has never seen an ounce of road salt, you'll probably just crush them trying to jack the car up, and then you have big problems.
My car was too low to get a jack under that part, but thats the cradle. It should be alright.
yeah thats what I normally go with I used the suggested spot for my jackstands and afterwards it warped disintegrated anything within an inch of where they stood didnt make me feel to comfy. I will normally use the frame behind the radiator to jack and than the corners for my jackstand and I feel safe...I still put jackstands at the drip edges for back up when I really need to get it up and use a 4x4 as spacer between the jack and frame but I find either way using the wood helps keep it lvl on the way up and gives ya an extra cpl inches of lift

The centre of the rear "subframe" has a nice point to get to.
It might be difficult or impossible with a large floor jack and/or aftermarket exhaust though.
I've used the center of the rear subframe before with a large jack. Had to be very careful lowering it down. Jack was touching the exhaust pipe. If you use this point I would recommend using a small jack.
I finally got around to changing my oil. I jacked under the pinch points high enough to put a 6x6 under the front tires. I was surprised to see the back end start to come off the ground a bit. If I keep doing this, will it compromise the alignment or suspension? Worked real good though, had another extra board next to the 6x6 and just backed the car off the boards.
