how do u bleed the breaks. i bought this kit at advanced auto parts to do it with and bought some break fluid but have never really done much with breaks before? i know how to take the wheel off and all to get to the breaks but whats the best way to bleed them. all help is welcomed

you start with the right rear caliper, then the left rear, next is the right front, then the driver side.
so its pump the pedal 3 times (have someone pump the brakes) hold it down, you crack the bleeder open, ( the pedal will sink to the floor) then shut the bleeder before they let the pedal up. repeat as needed.

oh and dont let the master cylinder run dry, keep it over 1/2 full.

what does the bleeder look like? im trying to flush the old break fluid out cause the car wasn't maintained when i bought it and i had to do alot of maintaince on it when i got it. the rotors where shot along with the tie rods both front bearing lower ball joints and several other stupid problems. i like the car so im trying to make it last me a few years.

its a small nipple looking thing with a nut at the base of it. its like a 8 or 9 mm nut, you need a wrench to open and close it. i like to put a old vac line on the nipple to catch the fluid and put it in a bottle. wrench first, then the vac line on top of it.
you will find it on the high side on the back of the caliper. you cant miss it.
sounds like you got your car the same way i got mine, neglected......ive done all the brakes, the whole front end and so on.

appreciate it and yea it had a strating problem when i got it luckily just simple as cleaning the tb and the coolant was in terrible shape...it was pretty bad i overpaid for the car to now that i think about it,

rule # 1 when used car shopping, is, take it to a shop to be looked over, could be the best 50 to a 100 bucks you ever spent.
my car was for sale for 1800, after a trip to the shop, i walked with it for 800. it needed a lot of tlc.

yea i paid 3000 and now i would say no more than 1500 is what i should of paid. i think he had the check engine light reset right before i got there. i knew the breaks and rotors were bad and talked him to 3 from 4000 but that was still way to much cause ive put a good 1500 into fixing it up

im up to a full 2 grand if not some more. but on a 800 dollar car, that justs bring it back to blue book value. which is about 3000 im guessing tops.
i did 99% of all the work needed too. that saved a lot of money.

yea thats why im on here is to figure out how to do it all my self cause mechanic shops charge out the a** for stupid easy things.

the whole front end is cake. only thing you need to do is have it aligned afterwards. read through the how to section, tons of good info in there.

Which kit did you buy? If you bought a vac/ pressure kit you have to do it differently then pumping the brakes and then opening the valve...
And i have found that the 8 dollar kit works better then the vac/pressure kit..

the truth is i have never used any kits/vac pump ever and really have no knowledge of how to do it.
i do it the old school way. pump it, hold the pedal, pop the bleeder, close bleeder, then re pump till no air or clean fluid comes out. this is a 2 man job.
quick tip.....i've used almost every one of my girl friends to pump the brakes too. so i could bleed them, thats a easy job, it just get old fast lol

Ya there is nothing wrong with the old school way... like you said it is just a two man job.. sometimes there isnt anyone around to help and thats when the one man kits come into play.. but either method will work.
