Hey idk if this is the right section for this but I'm giving it a shot anyways.

So I had my brakes checked out the other day and they said all the pads were in decent shape and nothing looked out of the ordinary. I've been having some trouble with my ABS, low trac, and check tire pressure lights coming on after the engine bogs down a bit. I haven't seen a post addressing all three coming on so I wanted to post and ask if anyone has ran into this before. It seems the pedal goes loose when this happens and sometimes the brakes (i don't know which wheel) makes a squeaking/grinding noise right before it happens. The low trac light comes on and off now either when driving down the road or hitting any sort of bump or uneven surface. I haven't been able to take it to a shop to see if they can get a code from the ABS light because it has always happened after the shops close.

Any ideas on what it could be? The other day it was like the brakes failed for a couple seconds and was kinda scary because I don't want it happening if I'm in rush hour stop and go traffic and the car just doesn't wanna stop all of a sudden.

Sounds to me like you might have a problem with a bad wheel speed sensor. I would suggest taking the car to someone that can read the ABS codes. Anytime the ABS light comes on, there is a code set, much like an engine trouble code. But it takes a special reader (usually a Snap-On Scanner or GM Tech II Scanner) to read the codes. So find someone that has one of them, get the codes scanned and read, and report back so we can help figure this out.

I have the same prob, not so much with the low trac coming on and off though. I want to take it in but have heard its a complete kick in the ass for the pocketbooks, just to have the code read... plus then you g2 more then likely go without a car for a day or so... at least from what i've heard from dealers around yonder. haha

Anybody know if the autotap scanner tool will work for this, or is that more engine related scanning?

My Trac Light, Abs light and Tire Pressure light comes on whenever I hit a bump. I had the hub assembly replaced on both front sides. I had tie rods inner and outter done. What happenes is sometimes when I turn the wheel to the left, the wheel slips a little. One time I was in the parking lot and going slow the wheel tightened up when I turned left making it hard to turn left. I figured something in the steering column area is going bad. Any thoughs?

Well I put a new intermediate steering shaft on and a new steering column and that didnt fix it. Looks like it would have to be rack and pinion. Steering to the left is still hard.

Yeah its most likely a wheel speed sensor had same problem on a 01 monte carlo ss. Without having softwar to read the outputs from the speed sensors you wont be able to narrow it down to a certain wheel. However you can narrow it down to either front wheels or back wheels, and how you do that is while it is started and in park turn the steering wheel back and forth if your lights all come on its the front. Since your only turning the front wheels and your back wheels arent moving this would tell you wear to start. Hope this helps by the way when you attempt to do this make sure your lights are not on.

Well replaced the rack and pinion and aligned the front end and that solved the problem with the steering to the left. The abs, trac and tire pressure light is still on so i can image it is a wheel sensor.

-When you replace the hub assembly, doesn't that include a new speed sensor , or is that extra? I let the mechanic replace both of my front hub assemblys.

    - I did turn the steering wheel back and forth and the lights did come on so I guess its one of the front wheel sensors.

Yes, when the hub assembly is replaced, those WSS (wheel speed sensors) are replaced. They are located inside of the hub.

Soo if they are new, they shouldn't be messed up already unless the mechanic was dumb or you got a bad brand.

Shoulda got it scanned first before you started replacing hubs.
