Ever since I've owned my car I've sometimes heard a grinding noise while braking. It was barely noticeable at first, but lately it's started to become quite loud and noticeable. I do not hear it at all while accelerating or just driving. It does not show up in turns either. It definitely comes from the front. Both front and rear brakes were recently redone with EBC slotted rotors and RedStuff pads, and I just had it all apart to replace the CV axles. There was no signs of abnormal wear with the brakes, and no signs of anything rubbing on something it shouldn't. The car feels extremely solid and tight. The only rotating parts I haven't replaced yet are the wheel bearings, which seem to be good according to my own tests and the alignment shop. Is there something in the transaxle that could cause the grinding noise, but only when braking? Most recently I noticed it clunks when shifting into reverse, so I checked the fluid and it was full. It looked very clean, but it was recently changed with a new filter.
