    The directions were great. Very easy to follow.


    If anyone's considering powdercoating the calipers they're relatively easy to take apart and reassemble.

    Here's a good link I found on how to do it:

    DIY: Brembo Caliper Disassembly - NASIOC

    You pretty much split the calipers in half, and pry the seals out with a small wire or hook and then remove the pistons/ seals. I've tried changing the seals on f-body brakes before and the brembos are much easier to do. The cts-v brembos have the fluid feed between the caliper halves mounted externally so they're even easier to do than the ones in the link. You just have to make sure that you use locktite on the bolts when you reassemble the caliper halves. Those bolts might be tty bolts but some of the people in that thread have reused them and haven't had issues. They seem to be working just fine for me. You could probably remove the seals and pistons without splitting the caliper but I found it easier to do with them apart.

    You can get heat shields for these brakes too, they slip in between of the pad and the pistons. When I bought the calipers used, they had a set installed in them already, so that was a nice bonus.

    nice write-up.. I am almost done piecing together the set up.. just waiting on my CTS-V calipers to get here and a few other odds an ends, also waiting on the weather to get a little warmer and i will be tackling this project! will def. be referencing this when i do it thanks!

    Drunkie I couldn't find the part number you listed for the rotors, could you check it?
    2001 Regal GS, PLOG, 3" DP, 1.9's/L76 springs. 21* of timing on a 3.4"

    the part number should be right.. you just have to select Centric as the mfg option.. and it doesnt show up as brake rotor in the description for some reason but it shows up in the picture.

    i can't thank you enough for taking the time to put all this great info up on the web! thanks a million man!

    i have an 06 impala ss that i would really like to put these brakes on it. i recently burned through a set of ebc rotors and pads after just 12k, they have a 10k warranty, i've had this issue with every other pad and rotor ive tried, i go through them way to fast. so an upgrade is in order.

    however, while i have 20" lexani's for the summer, spring, and fall. i run my stock 18"s (52mm offset) at the track with drag radials, and in the snow with blizzak WS-70s in 225/55/18 (I highly reccomend). and I would like to maintain factory wheel compatibility.


    Should I just throw a ~15mm spacer in for the winter and at the track to make this brake combo work for me? I can always get longer, ARP studs. or is it not worth the trouble? I can always upgrade to the GXP/C5 calipers with the 12.7" GXP rotors, but its roughly the same cost as these O.E. Brembo's. I also found a guy who sells a wilwood 13.2" kit that will work with my wheels, but he already lied to me over e-mail, and won't give me the rotor part number to check replacment costs...so i don't really want to give him my business.

    Heres a pic of the car back in 09 after the rims went on for the first time, still looks similar now but lowered on Bilstein HD's and custom springs, among every other suspension upgrade I could find. Still nearly stock on power and I've got a 6t75 here ready to be rebuilt and mated to a forged piston, cam swapped and ported head'd LS6 that dyno'd at 511hp @6700 on 93 octane as soon as I stop being lazy!

    a spacer with ARP studs should be no issue at all to clear the calipers.

    sorry for the whole long post...I decided I'm just going to do it!

    I'm confused about the last 3 parts listed. I have everything else ordered except the rotors for just under $450 with all brand new parts. Can I get the 4x12mm washers from Home Depot or similar? where do you get the 4x14mm bushing? And how many of those bearings do I need and what are they for?

    Here's a list of all the GM part numbers for the CTS-V.
    18041878 Front brake caliper bolt; qty: 4.
    21012386 Front brake hose copper washer; qty: 4.
    11569737 Front brake hose fitting (banjo bolt); qty: 2.
    89047711 Front disc brake pad pin kit (includes 2 pins and 1 retainer); qty:
    89047726 Passenger side front disc brake caliper without pads, pins and clips; qty: 1.
    89047727 Driver side front disc brake caliper without pads, pins and clips; qty: 1.

    I also heard that there were problems with the 2010+ Camaro SS Brembo caliper's so I'm going to avoid them, eventhough they'd look fine on my chevy without powdercoat.

    Our bolts are 14mm bolts and the CTS-v bolts are 12mm...The bearing sleeves go in the spindle bolt holes to accommodate the 12mm CTS-v bolts and/or f-body bolts so the bolts have some sort of wall to surround them otherwise the bolts would be about to move around a little bit, as will the calipers, which is bad lol... the washers can be had at home depot, im sure, and those are used to space the caliper off its original position a few mm in order to properly align the caliper in the middle of the rotor.. the sleeves and washers can be found on McMaster-Carr.

    I have a set of 2010 camarao SS calipers and rotors

    now that i have another GP.. 2004. I am going to plan to upgrade to these in the spring time.

    just need to get some long ZZP lines, brembo decals, might and maybe i'll even get these powder coated

    Where did you get your rotors from?

    are they hard anodized black so they are going to stay black even where the pad sits? cause if so that is freaking awesome and i want some.

    edit: nevermind. it's a zinc coating and it'll cut off from the pads, but anything the pad doesn't touch will stay black. either way i think i would get those.

    If I'm not mistaken, your wheels are identical to the GXP wheels as far as specs go, so you should be okay, adding spacers ain't so bad and besides you could easily find 18" wheels that will fit as replacements as well.

    26 or 27lbs IIRC

    There are some 2-piece rotors that weigh about 18lbs that are about $800

    Thank you Drunkie! Especially for being the first for taking on this project.. Ive always liked what you have accomplished with your car and ya i thought about getting the regular zinc but when i saw the black i thought they would look pretty good

    also if you have the cash i would recommend getting some of the 2-peice rotors for sure, 25-27lbs doesnt look to bad on paper,so to speak, but when you actually feel it, these rotors are damn heavy lol as soon as i can manage the funds i will def. be getting some 2-piece rotors

    Unfortunatly the stock SS 18s have a +52 offset...so Im going to get a 5/8" (15.875mm) spacer by wilwood and arp XL studs, to put me at the 36mm "offset" to clear the brakes. but its only when I'm going slow in the snow. plus the long studs will look cool with the 20s and no spacer!

    and year now I think I need some lightweight track wheels now!

    but yea the GXP came with allot better performance equipment than the SS brothers, or Lacrosse Super in stock form, which is forgotten sometimes.

    Should I go ZZP or W body store stainless lines? Where's the 5th one on the car that ZZP shows on the site?

    I mention the GXP wheels being identical to your SS wheels because guys have fit the CTS-v calipers on with GXP wheels, you should be able to do the same then
