At any rate more than stock GP suspension can handle.

hello qustion on the brake up grade 05 -08 gxp is what im looking for i read some were tht the setup will work on chevy o1 monte carlo ss 17" wheels this correct and if so what parts should i be looking to find new or uses pleaz send me a list
Has anyone had experience with Power Stop Evolution Ceramic Brake Pads? If so, opinions on them? I need new pads so I'm looking at performance vs. price right now cause I don't want to spend a bunch of money on them. Thanks.
Yes, just get the GXP calipers and GXP rotors and GXP pads
dave, when will you add some 06+ impala brake info?
^^ 17 and up fits over gxp calipers.
Ok, so I just read through 13 pages of more brake info than I know what to do with, but I am still ocnfused. I am just wanting to do a quick and simple 12 inch upgrade to get the most bang for the buck. I am hitting the bone yard today to see what I can find. Can anyone tell me exactly what I need from what donor vehicle.
From what I gather my options are the following:
-calipers, rotors, and pads from a 04-08 grand prix (do I not need the brackets???)
-brackets and rotors from a 01+ monte carlo or impala
-brackets, rotors, pads, calipers from a 98-02 f-body
Am I correct here? I am probably going to go with whatever set up I can find in the yard, so I am not going to be too picky. Assuming the have a donor f-body, what is the hardware kit I am reading about? Does the above not include everything needed? I also see that we are needing spacers, but that the zzp kit includes 14mm bolts that I guess eliminate the need for spacers? If so, couldn't I just go to the hardware store and get the 14mm bolts?
Sorry if this is lame, there is just so much info here and it is not broken down very well for exactly what is needed for the various options. It would also be nice to have a picture how-to, but the one referenced is not showing the pictures for me for some reason.
I appreciate any input, and thanks in advance.
the difference in rotor size mainly contributes to heat capacity rather than braking force.
f body requires tapped brackets or spacers/sleeves.
06+ impala provides the same braking force as F body but is 100% bolt on, cheaper, and iron calipers for better pedal feel/no risk of clamshell.
Pedal feel difference is probably negligible.
F body is known to clamshell.
What is needed to do this from the 06+ Impala--the brackets, rotors, and calipers?
So at the yard I found a 2003 POLICE Impala (although I don't think the brakes were any different than the normal). I scabbed the brackets for $5 each, so for only $10 more than it would have cost to do the brakes anyway I got the 12 inch upgrade (they did not have ANY late model F-bodies). Not bad, but I am still interested in the 06+ Impala info.
You need calipers/brackets, pads, rotors all from an 06+ impala.
Rears arent an upgrade.
You dont need rear brakes unpes you have coilovers basically.
Even then, for the 97-03 guys the gxp rears are just looks/heat capacity. No significant increase in stopping power.
So you don't need them. Thank you for clearing that up, I know I had read that the front takes like 97% or more of the stopping but I wasn't sure.
Off the the Pick and pull I go
There goes my paycheck lol
Yes.
