guess we are going to have to agree to disagree brother.

I have a quick question, would c5 vette calipers bolt onto the gxp front brackets? and are the bracket bolts the same as ours 14x 2.0mm I ask this because i have the vette calipers but want to run the 12.7 gxp rotors. Thanks in advance
I have heard that yes the vette calipers do and then I had someone say no they don't.
Honestly, I have had both in my hands and they are identical, I was going to do this but have decided to try something else (see the other thread about 14" brakes)
GXP brackets do use the same bolts that we use for our current calipers though, I have tested this myself.
Yeah Ive seen the 14inch brake thread and that would be totally awsome but my pockets arent that deep lol. Ill give the vette calipers on gxp brackets a try if they dont fit Ill prolly just use the 12in brakes, thanks for the help man
i found the Comp G front + rear brake calipers and i was wondering if they will be a direct bolt up for my car. Also other than rotors and pads is there anything else i would need ?
Front Comp G calipers will give the ability to have 12" rotors
Rear Comp G calipers will do you nothing really
what do you mean by that?
Rear is the same caliper essentially the same as what you have now. I wouldn't bother.
the front would upgrade you to 11.7" or 12" rotors.
so its just for looks? got it
if you change the rotor size you change your brake bias.
If you go for larger rotors you increase the heat capacity of the rotor hence improving the "performance" of the rotor.
Heres an analogy.
11" rotors are like trying to push open a door from the point closest to the hinge, its not very easy and requires alot of force.
12" rotors are like trying to push open a door from about half way out on the door from the hinge, definitely much easier.
When we start doing F-Body calipers its like having a arm or hand that has more muscle to push and give the force to open that same door.
The bigger the rotor size the further you move away from the hinge.
But there is a price as Matt said the brake bias can be thrown off.
Doing 12" F-body setup doesn't really throw it off that bad, but doing 14" rotors with CTS-V calipers will have a huge effect and eventually something will have to be done with the rears to keep it in check.
In stock form we do about 90% front and 10% rear braking bias.
because our suspension is soft and the chassis flexes :C
x3,
I was ranting to blue in the chat the other day about that....
if you make some, send me a set.
x4!
Ah damn, thanks for letting us know. I was going to try this if the 14" brake setup failed.
06+ Monte brakes might be worth discussing. From what I understand you get the 12" rotors and dual piston calipers of the LSJuan Fbody upgrade, but with a better pedal...they also can use stock bolts.
