New, all day long. Most of the remans I've had to deal with often have dinged/damaged splines, and I get really pissy when having to file splines to make 'em fit.

Well, the new duralast driver side axle and seal went in today. Job took a total of two hours from putting it on and taking it off the lift. I was taking my time.
...surprise, surprise, the vibrations went away! I did get some highway driving in on the test drive, just to make sure too. No leaks with the new seal either! (wahoo!, heard that happens a lot...) I just used the 36mm socket to pound it in. It fit the seal perfectly.
Hopefully the shop has time to get it on the alignment rack tomorrow
Well, it rides much better... not quite like a cadillac.... more like a pontiac... smooth, but still bone jarring

No sir, it does not. The '02 has developed a mystery vibration as well, gotta look into it when I head to ATL next weekend. Must mix another drink.
Well.... %$^&(*%$#%#%^& I'm not sure this will ever go away . After a long road trip this weekend, no luggage (weight) or other passengers (900 miles round trip @80-90 MPH averaging~24MPG) the vibrations are still here, and probably more annoying.
They are much more noticible in the 25-35MPH range though, and sometimes they are there, others they aren't. It doesn't seem to matter if it's hot, cold, or has been driving for 5+ hours on end. Highways speeds is preeety good, not 100% vibration free, but I think I'm being picky with what little is left at highway speeds. The in town vibration got pretty bad this morning though. It does not seem to go increase or decrease with speed or RPM when it's in "vibration operating MPH range" (again ~25-35)
To top it all off, I have a roadtrip every weekend for the next couple coming up and I have to take the grand prix.
Any ideas? I haven't noticed any play, anywhere. Could it be the outer CV axle this time? Haven't curb checked anything, so I'm pretty sure the wheels are still balanced from a couple weeks ago.

Doubtful on the outer joint, as I'm assuming you didn't replace only the inner joint, but rather the entire axle assembly. Low speed vibration is almost always tire/wheel related. If you can, get the wheel and tire on a balancer and watch the tread surface as it spins...Check for hop and lateral runout. PS, I've got family in town this week, so I've been scarce, and our board is acting goofy. Hit me on the cell if you need me befo I check in.
right, I replaced the entire CV axle on the driver's side. I was asking if the passenger side CV axle could be an issue.
I've got road trips this and next weekend... I'm driving down to Orlando for the second one. I'm hoping to have the vibration resolved by then. I've been wondering if it the tire itself as unzip2000 mentioned in post#3, since the tires are balancing out just fine.
Not sure if I have time today to get it onto the lift/into a shop, definately won't have time the rest of this week or next

wohooooo!!! Well, at least I know that the right rear had tire hop. The Bridgestone Potenza 960AS Pole Positions will be in tomorrow. Hopefully, I'll have time to get them installed.... and then, hopefully that fixes the problem for good! (wallet is going to hate me though ....)
Ok, finally got back from the tire store. I didn't have time yesterday. I didn't get the Pole Positions because I was able to talk him down on the Bridgestone Potenza G019 Grids by quite a bit. ...not sure if I shoulda done that because I still have traction issues, but I've only put 30 miles on them I'll put 300 on them this weeked and re-asses. The good news is that I get a free 30 day trial with them, so if I'm still unhappy, I can always upgrade
...and no, the vibration is not 100% gone...... but I'm hoping that putting some miles on the tires will help.
I also noticed a "clunk" today when turning the steering wheel to full left lock. In order to re-create it, the car must be in motion and going faster than a crawl. Any ideas?

yeah, after the long trip. problem is still there. new tires did nothing for it, almost seems worse... despite not being able to balance the old ones.
I'm sick of looking for this thing, especially since mechanics can't even figure it out!
I have an idea you'll be using that 30 day ride guarantee on the G019s... Thay're not one of my favorite BFS products. Did you buy those at Big 10 or Firestone? If you can swing a day to come down we can throw it on the rack and I'll have a look at it and balance the tires properly (since that seems to be impossible for 99% of shops ) and we can shake down the front end in search of the issue. The clunk in the front end almost always is either the rack mount or cradle, either can be easily tightened up. BTW, PM me your # again so I can program it- IIRC you still have a funky # from Colorado, and I'm semi-famous for not answering if I don't recognize a number.

clunk is brand new, never heard that before until now.. this is just depressing.
Well, better news. Just got back from having the alignment done and tires re-balance (good ol' lifetimes are sweet). I didn't get to get out on the open road, but it's much smoother.... as long as I'm off the throttle. Prior to this, it was pretty bad even without being on the throttle.
So now, I guess the vibration under throttle is either a CV axle, hub, or transmission! Well, 2 out of the 3 on the drivers side were just replaced last month or two and should are still under warranty (lifetime axle, 1 year hub) ...hopefully they went bad, and these bad vibrations will be gone!

Here's a thought. When I replaced the axle, I was able to move around the shaft inside the transmission with my finger (the one next to the seal). Is that supposed to happen, or is it just broken?
I'm contemplating just going and getting a new hub and axle and throwing those in if I have time this weekend just because they are under warranty and all I need to pay for is a new seal ........ argh. ....simply because I'll throw free parts at it all day (only the driver's side is free for both the hub and axle).
anybody else have any thoughts between 02WS6TA and myself?
