Hey all,
First, I did a search, but I wasn't able to find an answer to my question, so I apologize if this has been asked and answered before. And second, my mechanical skills and know-how are somewhat limited, so please bear with me.
Anyway some background:
A year or so ago, the caliper on my 06's rear driver's side wheel wasn't coming all the way back and it was causing the rotor/wheel to get really hot. I took it in to my mechanic, and they were able to unstick the caliper and advised me not to use my parking brake until it was replaced. I got that caliper replaced shortly thereafter and was advised that the one on the right side would probably end up doing the same thing. About a week ago, sure enough it started to happen on the right side. I had that caliper replaced and thought all was well.
Anyway, today I parked in the driveway which has maybe a 20-30% incline, pushed down on the parking brake and hopped out. As I was walking up to the front door, I heard and saw my car roll back about 2-5 inches as if the parking brake isn't doing its job. It had done this a few times before (during the year between having the left and right calipers replaced - for whatever reason I wasn't concerned about it then).
So first, I'm assuming that this is bad/not normal behavior, correct?
And with my mechanic going over the braking system when I took it in last week, this is something they should have caught right?
Thanks for any feedback!
