My brakes are acting kind of funny. I believe that it is my right front brake it kinda sounds like it is partially engaged all of the time. I don't feel it pulling though so I'm not exactly sure as to what is going on. any ideas?

lift the car off the ground. spin the wheel and listen for ANY noise besides the rotor dragging. any noise that you can hear at very low speed will be greatly amplified going faster.
It is always making a grinding sound when I turn it. it is a lower sounding grinding noise that I am hearing though and it is pretty hard to turn the tire. would the barring going bad make it hard to turn?
any other way of trouble shooting? I'd rather not just start throwing money at a noise you know?
when its jacked up try to move it back and forth if there is play in it that could be wheel bearing
and do you hear and squealing or other grinding when you turn the wheels alone, could be your ps pump or rack
if its side to side, its your tie rod, if its up and down its your ball joint, if its all around its your wheel bearing or the first two.
Take the caliper off then rotate it and see if it still makes that noise. Should be very obvious if its the brakes or the bearing then.
haha thanks matt. Ill have to do that just so I know what is going on. to release the piston for the brakes you just let the bleeder out and then pry at the inside brake pad to compress the piston and then remove the two bolts right?
Ill have to give this a try after work today though I've still got to put in my eight hours today yet
You should just be able to push the caliper enough to get it to go back.
That or a C clamp. Either way, you shouldnt have to touch the bleeder valve. Although a brake fluid flush/bleed is probably a good idea.
ok that is what I thought. i think I opened the bleeder on the other side when i did it but I had help doing it and I couldnt remember quite how we did it. thanks for the help man
You dont need to open any bleeders period. Even with brand new pads.
