Thread: back brake piston stuck

I need help!
I'm replacing my back brakes, I'm on the drivers side rear I got the old brakes off and the new ones on but i cant get the piston back in the caliper. I'm using a large c clamp and i gave it everything i got, I even used a breaker bar for more power and all it did was bend the little bar on the c clamp.
So i thought my piston was seized so i lightly pressed the brakes and it moved.... (big mistake cuz now i cant get my old brakes back in. Is there something I'm doing wrong? is there something i need to do with the E brake or something? any help would be great my DD is sitting in the driveway useless...

yes and i borrowd a huge C clamp and i still cant get the piston back in.

What year is your car? If its 04+ it has the integral parking brake and you need a tool to twist the piston back in.

yeah its a 2004, i figured it out... i took the caliper completely off, brought it in the house and used the c clamp again... as the c clamp was spinning, so did the piston and as it spun it went back in, then i figured out that it turns in and out as opposed to it pushing back in...
what i dont understand is the front pushes in why doesnt the back... the passenger side took me 5 minutes with a pair of channel locks.

I told you, its the design of the caliper. The rear caliper's pistons has an integral ball screw mechanism that is part of the parking brake.
