I was looking around and cant seem to find an answer so I figured what a better place to ask. Anyways I have a 00 gtp and was thinking of swapping the steel subframe for the newer aluminum one. The question I have is will the newer aluminum subframe be able to stand up and would one off of a 00 monte carlo work. Also with regards to suspension as mine seems to ride very stiff hopeing the lighter aluminum subframe will help with this. Any help is appreciated. Thanks,

Where do they usually crack? Can they be beefed up in that area?

they crack in all the corners were GM left massive gaps, and there recall fix is they fill the holes with a type of seam fill instead of aluminum welding them shut to fix the problem, i've even heard of guys using expanding foam and jb weld on em. I would recommend keeping your steel frame for sure for the amount of headaches you may endure on not only the swap over but if it does crack
F clean cars, I Ride Dirty!.....to hide the wicked body damage...
97 GP GTP- Mystic Teal, 218k, fixing the damage
91 Cherokee- 4 in. Lift, 31 Kumho M/T, tons of fun
03 Chevy S10- full bag setup on order, will drag frame in under a month
