hey everyone i noticed a play in my rear passenger wheel when holding the wheel at the 12 and 6 position and assumed wheel bearing so i changed it then a day later the play came back. i do get a slight sway when going highway speeds and hitting certain parts of the road that have grip ridges for increased traction in rain. just wondering what else the play could possibly be i shook the trailing arm, sway bar, and both lateral links and all were SOLID any suggestions? could the wheel bearing have come loose in a day do i need to re-tighten.

I guess it's possible but moog is pretty good.. if the wheel was tight when you replaced it and now it's not then I would say you got the 1 on 1000 pos lol.

Online order? Even if not call email or go to the parts store and give an a peice of your mind

how are the tires wearing? could need an alignment. if you have play and its not in the bearing, it could be a bushing

tires are wearing as expected very very minimal camber wear but I have it set to about 2 degrees of camber so it should happen. average non-car person wouldn't be able to spot the wear even if you told them. also lateral links are tight and fairly new BMR branded ones only about a year and a half old. I did get the moog bearing from the local advanced auto so I could maybe see if its bad? its just a chore since I have longer studs in the rear due to a spacer needed for clearance of the trailing arm so swapping those out takes me longer than replacing the actual hub. my front alignment is toast and plan on getting an alignment Wednesday and would like to have this issue fixed in the rear as well before doing so.

obvious question - do your lug nuts allow the wheel to tighten flush to the hub face?
do you get movement at 3 and 9 as well?
If you take the wheel off, does the hub still have play?

its weird I checked the 12 and 6 and I couldn't find any play this morning even though it was clearly noticeable last night and I checked the 3 and 9 position both last night and this morning seemed pretty solid to me and the hub doesn't have play when the wheel is off I assumed that was just due to leverage and the fact that I really cant crank on it with the 3 or 4 in diameter the hub has? im not sure if its completely flush to the hub face but just looking from the car being on the ground it seemed pretty flush and its the same setup on the other rear tire and there are no issues there. also I've been driving it 40+ miles for the past few days so its doesn't seem to be in critical condition... yet

not sure if I was seeing things or not but when there was play the brake caliper seemed to compress and decompress with the play? like the brake rotor was forcing it to? could the rear knuckle have cracked or something crazy like that? Michigan roads plus construction is a beat down right now and ive hit a few cringy potholes this year but I just assumed the front would take the damage over the rear due to increase weight and the fact the front gets pushed into the hole while the back gets pulled into it

michigan roads and construction are a beat down??? it cant be!
it is quite insane. idk what its like out around macomb(the twp) way, although i hit m59 to the east coast and go up to port huron once a week and it can be "interesting"( read, PITA). i feel sorry for anyone having to do the 75/m59 mess on a daily basis, too. dont go through there at rush hour(s) but can only imagine.
im really not sure whats goin on there but will be following this thread.

looks like fun! heading back west in the evening-rush hour.welp, i think its hourS now. seems any time between 4 and 7-all the traffic heading east backed up- sometimes its been 3 miles of backup.
i think it would still be better in that than tryin to run either the I275 hundred or 696hundred any time of day, though. those 2 expressways are friggin nuts! apparently 90 is the new 70.

If you had play only 12 to 6 and not 9 to 3... it wasn't a wheel bearing. My first guess would be to check the strut bolts to the knuckle.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

I'll have to check when I get home I'll feel stupid that I listened to the shop that said it was a wheel bearing when it is just the bolts could it possibly be a cracked knuckle as well? Or do they not crack? Only reason I'm asking is because those bolts havent been touched for 3 years it be odd for them to come loose now but could be possible

strut bolts were tight rechecked everything else and they seemed good but I really tightened down all the lug nuts and one of them had a feeling like the stud was not all the way seated issue has seem to gone away just amazed I drove it so far if that was the issue
