I have a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GT with 185K miles on it. I bought the car about a year and a half ago, and 8 months after I bought it, I had to replace the passenger side wheel bearing. Just recently, my ABS started to randomly kick in every now and then under NORMAL braking, my ABS light would come on, and only after I shut the car off and start it again would the ABS light turn off. Eventually after the re start, the ABS would re engage randomly and the light would come on once more. In the past few days it has gotten much worse. Now, as soon as I start the car and the wheels begin to move forward, not only will the ABS light come on, but my traction control light will come on as well, and the dash message center will tell me I need to service both. My car senses are telling me the other wheel bearing has gone bad, but when the other bearing was bad it only made noise - I never had dash lights come on.
I have been told my model year likes to "eat" through wheel bearings in no timeso this is my first theory that the bearing is bad, thus why the service lights are coming on as soon as the wheel moves forward. What are other possible errors I should investigate before lifting the car up and putting a new bearing on? Thanks!
