Has anybody tried ZZPs stage 2 axels? They're supposed to be the best axels you can get for a 3800.
Any thoughts, pros or cons?

Ive been snagging minty low mile shafts anytime I find em in the yard....20$ each
At this point I want the axles as the fuses. ...
primary issue ive come across is that high mph cars need the axles disassembled and the grease quantity reduced by half.
its sorta rough on a boot with the dynamic weight of 100lbs of grease trying to find an exit, especially if it all settled to one side
Ive used stock axles for years. Once I started putting down real power I switched.
Since 2012 Ive been running ZZP Stg2 axles.
One thing I RECOMMEND is that you take off the large stock clamps on the boots and use hose clamps. This way they don't come loose and leak grease all over the ppalce
Doubt your actually at the power level where you need stage 2 axles.. just grab some new or remanuf from Napa or O'Reilly and spend the money on something else.
Dee. Don't put the axles before the engine. You gotta build your car before you can worry about thinks breaking !
Do you really need an axle or are you upgrading without a failure?
I've been running stock axles for 10 years on 3 different cars. Don't touch them till they break or arena problem.
Yeah zzp stage 2 axles are stock GM axles.
And yes my axels are both shot.
we've had 50-75k stock 08 impala junkyard axles (with the OE 148k HD diff tulip swapped onto the right one) to 150 mph several times and have handled 600whp/575ftlbs of Tq through 26x11 et streets with plenty of slip and hook situations.
i only swapped out the OEms cause we wiped the inboard clamps off during a hard tire shake (you could see the clamp marks on the subframe) the outers were getting pretty loose and i found a pair easy to remove from a rear end wrecked car.
i have reused clamps on it with reduced grease quantity (you honestly dont need a pint of grease) and it still has not leaked or thrown the boot.
ive had the trans apart 7 times for 2 converters, and a broken input shaft.
dont worry about the axles
i would give anything for the only breakable part to be the axles.
i can swap those out in 15 minutes
Go get any parts store new replacements and be done with it. Most stores around me don't even sell remans anymore. Replace the axle seals while you are at it so that you don't have to pull the axles again for that down the road.
