Just recently (like yesterday) I installed a Sony MEX-GS610BT head unit in my 2005 CompG with the monsoon audio system. Used the GMOS-04 harness (thanks to the info from you guys) Everything works, all speakers, even the one on the dash seem to be working, and none were blown prior to the upgrade. I got all my door chimes and such too. I have two issues though:

    1. When the stock head unit was in there, these speakers were MUCH clearer at high volume. Now, if i go anything past 40 on the volume (max of 50) i get this horrible scratching sound in the music. Not to mention that max volume is about as loud as MAYBE 3/4 volume on the stock head unit. Im using USB to play music, so that gets rid of the bad AUX cord or port problem i used to have with Pioneer HU. So, im assuming, i need newer/better speakers or maybe the amp in the HU or factory amp is taking a crap?

    2. Needing newer speakers means the problem of not knowing which route to go. by that i mean i havent found any document stating exactly what kind of speakers i should put where. It says the front are anywhere from 6 inches to 6.5. Rears are 6x9, i can tell. Now, what size are the tweeters? What about that center dash speaker? Also, i see something about the rears being wired in parallel through the factory amp or something, but that wasnt really clearly explained.

Also, the Sony has some special DSP function built into it, so would my problem be fixed simply by messing with that? (i hope not, kinda clueless when it comes to HPF or HF slopes or whatever else). I just want my radio to be as loud/clear as the stock headunit. If i need speakers, not a big deal, but id like to know what i should get (ohm resistance, sizes, two way three way, is there a difference, and what would work with minimal trimming, or modification)

Thanks for all of your help in advance guys!

My stock monsoon speakers sounded much better with the aftermarket unit. (Gmos-04 was used aswell.)
So I have no ideas why you have issues with that. Try messing with the levels/settings. Forget any automatic or whatever settings there are, make your own balance.

I have a sub in the back so I don't really put the volume to the max. Most of the time 15 outta 35 on it is plentiful for me.

Have tried adjusting the gain on the GMOS 04, yes there is a gain pot located on the black box, actually there are 2 pots one is for system gain and the other for chimes volume. I don't remember which one does what so you will have to play around to figure that out.

I've had great results with infinity reference around my whole car. They sell a one inch tweeter that i installed in my doors in place of the stock speaker... A great difference. I did though have to dremel out a little bit of the plastic though to get them to fit. The center speaker is a 4.25 if I remember correctly... I'm sure you could get away with a 4.0 or a 4.5. From my research it's hard to come across a speaker that size so that's the only speaker I haven't changed in my monsoon system.

Representing all the N/A out there. Fastest stock N/A you will ever come across.
