long story, but worth the read in my opinion. my dad always taught me that if you learn something you should share it because no one else wants to go through what you did if they could have known before it happened.

i bought a pioneer head unit, steering wheel interface, and data bus interface (for the door chimes, warnings, etc.) all on ebay.

got the head unit running in the car no problem. the rca cables were connecting to the back of the head unit, and the music was all distorted and sounded terrible. also, when i shut the doors, the stereo turned on and made horrible noises through the speakers (wtf).

after spending 2 days troubleshooting on and off, my dad finally forced me to go to circuit city and said he would pay for the install. because i am only home for 3 weeks on vacation from work.

circuit city notified me that my interface was incorrect, and luckily since i got the brand that they carry, they swapped it out free of charge. also, since i got a stereo that they carry, they installed it free too. the only thing they couldn't refund was the steering wheel control interface. i had to buy their brand and the install for that. all in all, it ran me about 130, but i will resell the steering wheel interface on ebay or if someone is interested on here, i will sell cheaper.

bottom line, if you are installing an aftermarket head unit and you have an 04+ GP without the monsoon system, you need the GMOS-01 data bus interface.

very good piece of info in my opinion...anyone that has questions about it, i will be happy to answer to the best of my knowledge, because i basically did the full install, but couldn't complete the job because of the incorrect data bus interface.

I have an 04 GP GTP with onstar and factory monsoon amp. Crutchfield.com states that I need the gm factory integration adapte gmos04 (General Motors Class II data bus interface Retains ONSTAR system, factory door chime, and Bose system with aftermarket radio) Will this work correctly, the reviews are good and bad on it, from working great to distortion and annoying door chimes too loud.

yes...that is the one that you would need. there is a way for you to adjust the interface with a screwdriver to lower the volume of the chime if it gets too loud. it should work perfectly for you though.

K, thanks for the confirmation. I will probly get it from crutchfield even though it's $100 but atleast if im not satisfied i can get a return on it. I will wait a couple months because it's not needed right now and I better wait till I have a lil more income. Work + school and insurance payment his month. Insurance is quite high for a 18 year old with a supercharged GP + loan payments haha.

i don't think there is a difference, and you may want to check ebay for the interface. i got mine for 50 shipped...just a thought. i also got the steering wheel control interface much cheaper on ebay too...good luck, and let me know if you have any more questions

Well i got one from ebay for $25 and it was the axxess gmos-04, I hooked everything up and it didnt work, the best i could get it to do with my p5000ub pioneer deck was power up the welcome screen and shut off. I followed the instructions so I didn't know if it was a bad board or what, but i got a refund.

thats weird. i went with the metra axxess as well, and it works just fine for me. did you happen to get a used one? i just went with a new one because i didn't want it to be defective in any way when it arrived. i also have the pioneer premier 500ub, which is the exact same as the pioneer dehp5000ub. i love it so far. hopefully you get it working soon so you can hear how awesome it is!
