Alright so I have a little problem with my stereo install. I've installed stereos many times before and had to add a wire to the stock amp power wire to give it power for the speakers to produce sound. Not sure if that's my problem or not. But I have the 06 gxp with the stock touchscreen with navigation. I'm removing that and putting in a pioneer touchscreen. Got a wiring harness from good ol walmart. Wasn't worried about losing chimes and all that crap. My only problem is no sound. Anybody have a similar issue? Couldn't seem to find anything. Thank u for your time.

Probably your harness.. Assuming you have the Monsoon system you need the correct module to continue using the stock Monsson amp etc. unless you got rid of the amp all together and run your own speaker wires to another amp.

Yea that's what I was thinking too but thought there had to be a way. I just hooked ignition switch power up to the blue wire going into the car side which goes to purple and it kicked on rear sub/speaker. And the little front center speaker.

Finally got it -REDCOMPG. So all together all I had to do was tap into the brown wire on the ignition for power since removing the stock head unit u loose power for some reason. Then just hook the blue and white wire/purple wire to the red- accessory wire. All the speakers work and sound great. Obviously u lose the date feature and steering wheel controls. But if u want a cheaper route it works well.

Yea were probably gonna buy the harnesses needed for everything. As soon as the girlfriend got in the car she was *****ing about the date and steering wheel controls. Lol.

You really need the proper harness. I'm betting by tapping into that wire your amp is on all the time regardless of key position. 04+ do not have a switched 12V to tap into, it's the same circuit as the interior dimmer lights etc.

Btw, that factory unit is worth it's weight in gold around here.

Yea I know I should get the harness I just wanted to find a way to do it till I got the harness. Nobody has it in my town so its gonna be offline or from the next biggest town over. But yea the head unit worked great I just wanted an aftermarket one. Thanks for the headsup I'll figure out how to post it for sale on here.

That isn't entirely correct, industrialfish. I have an 07 and have been dealing with wiring a new deck up without the harness and at first couldn't find a switched power source. But I poked around with my multimeter and found a wire in the fuse box on the passenger dash that only had power when the car was on and stayed on when the car turned off until the door opened (like a stock deck). I beleive it was a thicker yellow one, but a multimeter will find out anyways. I used that for my switched for the new deck.

But for my car I needed to keep the stock monsoon deck as well or my theft system freaked out and my newer deck is all wired separate from the battery and etc now. Kept the stock one wired under the dash

Yea -Daven- I had to do something similar with my remote wire to my amp when I had the stock head unit. I just ran a wire from the sunroof fuse on the passenger side fusebox. Had power with the key on then lost power when u opened the doors and had the key removed so worked perfect for what I needed.
