Just a few other things to think about. I originally was going to use some slow color changing LEDs from superbrightleds.com. They changed colors every 4 seconds which I think would be very cool, but I wasn't sure if they would stay in sync with eachother so I ended up using just red. This vid gives you an idea of the effect... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDQfz0ElFQ4

Also, I considered just using one LED in the little space in between the two cupholders and just letting it stick up since nothing would be sitting directly on top of it. This would be a good place to use an actual LED holder of some sort. My concern here though was if it would actually make a bottle light up as well if it wasn't directly under it. I would use a wide angle LED if I were to do this.

I would be intersted in seeing anyone's results if you try either of these ideas, or whatever else you come up with.

Well, I didn't do more than just take it off and swap the perf shift button around. I guess you are interested in putting the button in? GM glues the performance shift button into the hole, so you just have to be careful and get it to pop out. Once you have it out, cut the plug off the end and pull the wires through. Then I traced around the button on my handle and dremeled away on it till it fit. I started small and then just trimmed here and there until it would just barely go in.

The wire runs in a little channel inside the handle. I found it impossible to get it to go DOWN through the channel, so I cut the wires close to the button and ran them UP through the channel. Then I just soldered them back together at the button and slid it all in.

Interesting thing about the knob is if you peel the leather off, it is textured like leather underneath. Looks almost the same just missing the stitching around it. I only know this because I pulled the leather off the old beat up one.

Very nice job. I did mine a little different. I also have 3 LED's in each cupholder as well. I thought about putting my LED's in the same way but I thought about what if I want to change colors or whatever reason that would come into mind for swapping them out. So I came up with the idea of using LED holders and drilling and using a plastic epoxy to secure the LED holder to the bottom of the cup holders.

Its a different mod, I like it. Very unique, you always seem to come up with some cool **** Abraisive. Hell, and I thought your rain deflectors were the coolest thing ever (btw, the 3 GPs have been doing well, no leaks whatsoever)...

Great mod considering doing it on mine, I would like to try with either larger LED's or colour changing LED's that would be pretty cool. Probably the most cost effective interior mod I have seen (for me at least as I can get this stuff easily in my garage or from school.)

I think you could use a resistor with more ohms to drop the voltage and make them not so bright.

I have resistors and I could use bigger resistors to make it dimmer but I like the option of having it really bright. But I made some diffusors inserts out of plexi glass. I cute circles out and frosted them by sanding them with 1000 grit sand paper.

I agree, I would say a larger resistor would do the trick to dim them down. One thing I do know is that when I was testing my color changing LEDs, they don't like bigger resistors. They start to flash and do not change colors correctly, so I would say only do this with a single color LED.
