That was already discussed. He doesn't want to dim the factory gauges, just the pillar gauges.
Kinda silly and unnecessary IMO to dim the gauges differently than the dashboard. You'd want the light level consistent for obvious reasons (lol, the op pic with the gauges being too bright/distracting). Is the same reason to hook up an aftermarket audio head unit to the dimming circuit. I know some people don't like to so... to each his own! Enjoy!

His aftermarket gauges are BRIGHTER than his factory. So hooking up his aftermarket gauges to the factory dimmer will make his factory gauges impossible to read because they are now too dark.
