Hey guys, first off, I'm new here. I just bought my 2006 Grand Prix a couple of weeks ago, and am looking to put some mods on it. One of the first ones I want to do is put a new head unit in. I'm looking for a touch screen one.

If that worked that is a picture of my current headunit.

Does anybody know any that are not to overly expensive?

Hey look that guy happens to have one lol. Buy it before it goes on eBay!

When it comes to HU you get what you pay for. Stick with well known proven brands like alpine, pioneer, kenwood etc.

I went with a clearanced Pioneer AVIC-x940bt and put in a custom splash screen image. I have to say, I love this head unit.

I have the Pioneer AVH-4500. Bought it off Amazon for $340. If you have the factory Monsoon system with the amp you will need to by a GMOS-04 harness to keep using the amp. It's a little pricey like $90 on amazon.

LOL, well we all seem to really like our various double din, touch screen head units. Just pick the one you like and remember you get what you pay for and you can't go wrong. I personally had to wire mine differently because the guy I bought my car from had trashed the original harness but you should be ok if your car hasn't gone through that. Let us all know which one you go with.

Yes I bypassed mine. The 2013 pioneers require a different micro bypass than earlier models. It's a dual pulse. So be careful if you order one.

It's not hard. It involves an extra wire. These people have the skinny. There's also a couple of YouTube videos that show you how.

Won't work you need the gmos-04 harness.

Without a harness it won't work properly and will flash security codes all over the car.
