The reason for everything is because GM. Lol you don't have to know what all the wires are for as long as you know the ones I posted early. Keep in mind there's a lot stuffed behind there like the heater/ac controls, DIC controls, heated seats etc so yes there's a bunch and once you buy the correct harness....they'll be even more.
So what I'm still not understanding, is there an adapter that will hook to the factory plug ins and hook to my specific head unit? I'm thinking I might take a couple pictures of the plug ins and maybe you guys can help me with what is what haha. I understand the ASWC now but don't completely understand everything else. Or do the wires that came with the new head unit hook into the factory plug in? I'm probably sounding confusing. Haven't really looked at the wiring much because I was confused so I gave up haha.
Bought a plug in that hooks to the factory plug in with the speaker wires and what not. Got it all soldered, plugged it in, and nothing happened. There was two wires I didn't get wired thinking I didn't need them. Dash light ilumination and amp turn on. Not sure if that's the reason it's not working or what. About ready to just take it somewhere to get it done.
id try running some speaker wire right from the HU to a speaker, house speaker even for the ease of it. just to see if its putting out sound.
did the radio light up at all? if not the fuse may have blown on you if you dint pull it before working on the radio.
First thing first do like Scotty and I said earlier and run new speaker wires from the new speakers to the back of the head unit. The head unit should come with a diagram for which wire is which and you just match it up. Check the fuse as well.
Ok see the harness I bought is just a thing of about twelve wires for speakers, ground, battery. There was still a few factory plug ins that would not be hooked to the new radio. So I definitely need that harness??
is this the harness I need?

Yup that's the one. You gotta understand a simple harness will not work on modern cars like it would cars in the 90s. You have onstar. Monsoon. Door chimes etc etc that you need to retain and a normally $20
Harness isn't going to do that. I imagine that you didn't factory this is when you decided to go this choose but if you want that pioneer to work flawlessly your going to have to pony up the cash for the correct harness.
You can get one off ebay for half the price probably too if you have the time to wait!
Yeah I saw that but I wanted to get it done quick haha just bought it from Best Buy. I want to get this thing in! Haha
I got it all hooked up. Steering wheel controls aren't working for some reason. With this big harness all I had to hook in was the ground and power wire for it?? Then I wanted to hook up the RCA and remote wire for my subwoofer amp and can't remember how to hook up the remote wire haha. It's been about a year since I've done it and I can't remember lol. Then I figured a DVD would work as long as I had the parking brake on. Well it'll play and everything, but doesn't show the video and it'll keep popping up saying something about it not being legal to watch from the front.
You need to buy a micro bypass off of amazon to get it to play video all the time. They cost $20. But make sure you get one specially for the 2013 pioneers. It needs to be a dual pulse or it won't work. I have a 4500 and it works great.

Thanks guys! I'll have to get one of those for the video. See that's what I was thinking I needed to hook it to, but I thought I had hooked that wire up to another wire on the harness?? I don't know why I can't remember this lol. Any idea on why the steering controls wouldn't work? I'm sure it's probably just some simple thing. I'll look at it again when I go to put my subwoofer in.
Nope you hook it up straight to the radio. Not sure did you perform the controls correct and hooked it up correct?
Alright I'm starting to remember now haha. And I believe so. I mean I obviously done something wrong for it not to be working. I guess I'll just check it when I hook up that remote wire. It's really not a big deal to me to not have the steering wheel controls, they're just nice to have.
I think you gotta program it somehow
