I have some LED strips in my footwells hooked up to a switch so I have to turn on/off manually. I want to hook it up somewhere to have it turn on automatically with all the DIC, speedo, console and whatnot else lights. Where I could tap into? I was thinking going into the light level knob to the left of the steering wheel but I'm not to sure how much that would accomplish.

I wouldn't do park I wouldn't do parking lights. I just tapped into the same lights as the stock interior lighting when I changed all mine to LEDs a long time ago. Just get under the dash and cut and splice the wires together

LED's will need to be dimming if you want to put them on the dimming circuit, that you mention. You sure you want them on while you are driving around?

Mine aren't dimming LEDs so their on and then they just shut off. Its fine with me though. Actually didn't know they made dimming leds

I hooked mine up to the fuse box with a fuse tap. I have it tapped into a power source that allows for power in both the ACC and ON positions with the key. That way I can have a dim glow while I am drving or have a dim light while the car is sitting. I figured that I would get tired of having them on all the time so I hooked up two switches. One for the front seat LEDs and one for the rears. I really like how mine are set up.

I've simply run tapped the switched power wire in the stereo harness for a few friends who wanted footwell leds that just went on and off without a rocker switch. Never had an issue reported.

I could use some help with this too. I bought some LED stripes a while ago and I put them down there in the foot wells and they look like. What I did is I bought a switch that you plug into one of those things (cant think of the word right now) where you can plug in like a phone car charger. and use that to turn my lights on and off. Its not that big of a hassle but if your like me you can usually forget to turn them off and cause your battery to drain. So I was wondering if anybody had any ideas where to wire them into. and how cause im not a geek on wiring. lol I can post pictures of you guys wanna see what I mean.

I tapped into the light in the console for the shifter light, comes on and dims with dash-lights (Supposedly mine are non dimming too but they they a slight bit) shuts off when I shut off car or turn dash lights off

It doesnt matter to me if the lights are on all the time when the car is on I just dont want them on when the car is off. I like the lights being on at night cus it looks sweet (and i get lots of complements). Ive taken apart the console before so tapping into the shifter light will be easy enough

It was in the fuse panel in the glovebox. I put a fuse tap into a spot with a 10a fuse and then put another 10a fuse into the fuse tap. I then ran one wire from that up to where I was going to put the switches where I split it to run power to both switches. Then I ran 2 wires out of one switch for the front floor LED strips. Then I ran 2 wires out of the other switch for the rear floor lights. Thats pretty much it. I could post some pictures of some of the stuff that I can get to easy enough to show you.
Even if you want them all on one or all on all the time I would suggest re-thinking that. At first I was just going to have them all on one switch but decided to add in a seperate one for the back. So glad I did. I dont like having the light on back there if no one is sitting back there because in my mind it is a waste. I also like having the front ones shut off during the day to extend the life of the LEDs. Plus they arent really visible during the day.

thanks burgandybullet. i like your car, btw. i think i'll just stick with the switch i have now. i only have them in the front--laying on the floor and my switch is hanging in the change tray through the console. i'm not sure where i want them yet.

^ Best option, fair easy I did it myself just yesterday, I only got confused cause there where two black wires coming from the connector, but I picked one and used it for ground and they work fine! somehow I busted the bulb taking it apart so I replaced it with a LED bulb right away, my LED Strips aren't dimming ones either but they dim if I dim the interior light.... even better

Thanks. Here are the pics that show what Im talking about incase anyone cares.
The fuse tap on the right is in the MALL PGM spot and that is running power for the floor LEDs. It allows the LEDs to be on in both ACC and ON positions but will turn off the power when the car is turned off. That way there is no worrying about them being left on and you can have them off during the day and switch them on at night.
These are the switches I put in. The one on the left is for the front floor LEDs and the right one is for the rear floor LEDs. I like the switches because at night if someone is complaining about them being on you can just shut them off. Plus you dont have to have the rear ones on when no one is sitting back there.

One question.... those people that have hooked up the LED's to the gear shifter... did you guys blow the head light relay? I noticed the day after i spliced into the gear shifter that my low beams wherent working. turns out it was the HDM Module.. $43 for the relayanybody else noticed this?
