As far as I know its really not possible to do this without changing everything inside the car, wiring, bcm etc etc.
On the 97-03 cars, its not possible to switch from a knobs/slider HVAC to a digital HVAC because of the BCM and wiring, so I would just go with the same theory on the 04+.

I wanted to do this before to get my 06 Gxp seats heated again etc but never was able to find any information. Last I checked the digital climate control had more wiring in the back the the standard 04 controls. If you do find any information please post.
