Compass calibration:
Before calibrating the compass, drive the vehicle to an area that is magnetically clean (free of large metallic objects).
- Turn ON the ignition.
- Press the MODE button in order to advance to the COMPASS CALIBRATION mode.
- Press the SELECT button in order to display PRESS RESET TO RECALIBRATE.
- Press the RESET button.
- Drive the vehicle in circles at a speed of less than 10 MPH (16 km/h) until the DIC displays CALIBRATION COMPLETE and the compass displays the proper vehicle heading. The calibration procedure is now complete.
Compass magnectic varation:
Magnetic variation adjustments are required when the compass displays a constant error in heading. Variation is the difference between magnetic north and true north due to geographical location.
Locate your geographic location. Refer to the variation zone map.
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Press the MODE button in order to advance to the COMPASS CALIBRATION mode.
Press the SELECT button in order to display RESET CHANGES ZONE.
Press the RESET button in order to advance to the proper zone number.
Press the MODE button in order to enter and set the zone number.
Removal of compass module:
Remove the rear shelf trim panel. Refer to Rear Window Shelf Trim Panel Replacement.
- Reposition the sound barrier for access.
- Disengage the electronic compass retainers.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the electronic compass.
Installation:
Connect the electrical connector.
Align the electronic compass to the openings in the rear shelf. Install the electronic compass.
Install the sound barrier.
Install the rear shelf trim panel. Refer to Rear Window Shelf Trim Panel Replacement.
