Hey everyone, im running into one issue and not sure what to do. I ended up with a bunch of 1m led strips and want to use it in my trunk. well this isnt the first time ive had this issue. MY 97 also had low voltage to the trunk, when i plug in the strip its super dim, or peanut style bulbs just flicker. What can i do to get that perfect 12volt when the trunk is opend?

Do you happen to have subs ? Can you split a wire from the power wire and run it to them?

Why would you want your trunk light to come on with your subs?

JTeske88, the BCM controls the trunk light, so I would wager that you have a bad BCM, a bad wire, or a bad ground.

You could also check the harness at the trunk latch, on the lid. I had intermittent issues (dim light, no light etc) that turned out to be up there; one of the pins in the connector was loose, and wiggling the harness made the light come on. After squeezing the pins so they fit tighter, it hasn't failed me.

Well on mine the switch that turns the light on to the trunk is connected to the ground side . So the wire to the light is always hot and when the switch is grounded it grounds the light and viola the light comes on .

Now since your loosing voltage somewhere in the line if you re energize it by using the next best wire in the trunk it would be your subs power wire you will have the steady voltage .

I'm not sure if the switch is on the ground on the 04 plus or the power .

Not so ghetto as you thought? One wire that's easily hidden...

For me, this was my worst case repair. I'd rather repair the problem and not run new wires.

    Harness_Routing_Inside_Rear_Compartment_Lid.JPG

Plug #1 on the trunk lid was where my loose connection was.
